Link to TX-22 Primary results, Polls close at 8PM EST.
Give em hell Hammer!!! Id much rather see him go down in flames in November, and be a punching bag until then.

1. Yeah, but if he loses the primary, no one will give him...
the time of day between now and November.

2. Our best chance to take that seat back is if DeLay wins the
primary. Otherwise the Republican candidate will take an anti-corruption stance and be very tough to beat.

8. Agreed. Go Tom win, you steaming piece of shit.
We need a Demo to take him out in the general, and even if he wins in the general he'll be an albatross for the GOP in 2008. Like Bush and Cheney.

6. Hey, I'M rooting for tom delay...
Edited on Tue Mar-07-06 07:31 PM by calimary
...to TAKE A FRICKIN' HIKE!!!

It would be a gloriously beautiful black eye for him not even to make it out of the republi-CON primary, though. What a blow to the ego for the guy who once strutted around telling people "I AM the government."

The bigger they are...

7. Boy. I dunno liberaliraqvet26...
... that's a hard one to weigh.

If there wound up being an upset, wouldn't that be HUGE news -- not just in his District, but across the nation?

What a wake-up call that would be!!

I'd still like him to get his ass handed to him tonight, but according to everything I've read on the net or heard in the media... it's HIGHLY unlikely he'll lose. Nick Lampley even said on Big Eddie today that his loyal supporters will carry his ass to victory.

I can see your point.. but still, I want the little cockroach to get his weasley ass kicked!!

9. And win he did!

I wish Nick Lampson were a stronger progressive, but I would support a bar of soap to get DeLay out of Congress.

16. I'd take fucking Katherine Harris in that seat if she had a (D)...
next to her name. We're lucky to get ANY Democrat in that seat, and we'd be doubly lucky to get rid of Tom DeLay once and for all. You know what they say about begging and choosing, after all.

11. Not by that kind of margin
That's going to be an uphill battle when he gets that much of the vote in the primary. It should have been a squeaker to indicate a good chance to win in November. People in that district better be prepared to fight like hell. Can't depend on outsiders or you'll risk a backlash vote as well.

12. Does Texas have open primaries?
has anyone considered that the people voting for Delay might be Dems 'jumping the fence' to ensure the worst possible candidate to run against?

13. Not officially.
Officially, Texas has closed primaries. But in practice, any registered voter may vote in the primary of any single party, as long as they have not voted in the primary of another party. Texas's primaries are closed in a less direct way: once a registered voter has in effect declared his or her party affiliation by voting for the nominees in a party's primary, that person cannot participate in the proceedings (for instance, a runoff primary or convention) of another party.

14. Thanks!
In my state (MO) all parties hold their primaries on the same day, and you can only get one ballot (for one party) when you vote. Fence jumping is quite common.

17. Primaries are open, but there are restrictions about your
further participation in Democratic politics if you vote in the Republican primary. For instance you cannot be a precinct chair or convention delegate, nor can you vote in the primary runoff for the other party. People with that level of interest in politics wouldn't cross over.
