DeLay vote in TX
U.S. Rep., Num. Pct. Num. Pct. Num. Pct.
Pat Baig: 334 4.65% 0 0.00% 334 4.65%
Tom Campbell 2,065 28.74% 0 0.00% 2,065 28.74%
Tom DeLay 4,288 59.68% 0 0.00% 4,288 59.68%
Mike Fjetland 498 6.93% 0 0.00% 498 6.93%

Incomplete returns .... DeLay needs >50% of the vote to avoid a run off.

he is @ 60% now .... safe so far ...... but we now know that Sugarland, TX has 4,288 people who would
have Hitler in for tea and tell him that he was misunderstood

go over to blackboxvoting.org then to the state forums, there may be talk of the systems used.

I bet they use a mix of machines like many states.

2. I don't believe for a minute that "funny business" isn't involved.
I simply don't believe Delay could get 60%, no way. Maybe I'm just expecting too much of the people of Texas, but with the current anti-GOP tone rapidly escalating across the country, it is inconceivable to me that this guy, the one who basically started the whole avalanche, could have such wide support. I just don't believe it.

This is the GOP Primary
The wingnuts are voting between themselves. This isn't the electorate as a whole. Getting only 60% for an incumbent who has served for 22 years in his own primary is dismal.

6. I don't know about the results .....
the repugs might want him out now because he is a "lighting rod"

or

that is a very incomplete returns and with such small #s voting the % can get
shifted with not too many votes

or

they might just be dumb asses who "think" that the Jew York Times and Dan Rather
are out to get their boy and have got their spines up

or

DeLay paid the other small time repug vote getters to get into the race to split the vote
and help him

10. I don't know .....
Because if DeLay stays in for the general election he might be the poster child for
corruption .... and that would help the dems.

We need exit polling @ every precinct this fall ....

11. I don't agree with the DU'ers that wanted Delay to win tonight..
I kept trying to understand their reasoning... but I've come to the conclusion that the "take him out in November instead of now" theory DOESN'T make a lick of sense!!.

The man is so DESPICABLE that it would have made a much bigger impact to take him out NOW!!.

The dirtbag is partying with Lobbiests tonight in D.C. watching these results roll in.

That, plus George and Laura flew in Air Force One today to Texas just to vote for his ass.

NO, I don't agree with the DU'ers who were hoping he'd win tonight.

I think it SUCKS!

25. Not 100% sure
DeLay's district does include part of Harris County, but not Houston proper IIRC -- even if it did it would be in the more SW part of town, I think George I and Barbara live more northerly.

A undeniable crook with shitty approval ratings (DeLay) or a "fresh face" like Campbell? I think it will be easier for democrats to defeat Delay.

19. Even if Delay wins the results will probably be positive
Remember that this is a partisan primary, the most rubber stampish of all political events when an incumbent is involved. If Delay gets less than 90% of the vote this will be interpreted as a tremendous defeat for him (imagine the headlines tomorrow), and it looks like that will happen.

26. Totally bizarre
The fact that DeLay got even 1 vote (his) is amazing to me. I don't care about Party loyalty. THis guy is scum.

He is low life scum. And people are voting for him. How stupid can people really be.

They are smart enough to dress themselves and drive to the polls. They breathe. They eat.

They vote for Tom De(fucking scum)Lay. I am truly astonished. They truly have no shame.
