High U.S. Earners Criticize Bush Economic Policies, Poll Finds
March 8 (Bloomberg) -- High-income Americans may have benefited most from President George W. Bush's economic policies over the past five years. That doesn't mean they like them.
A Bloomberg/Los Angeles Times poll finds the president fails to get majority support from individuals in households earning more than $100,000 for his handling of the U.S. economy. A plurality, 40 percent, even said the economy is worse off because of his policies.
``Even though they're more affluent, they still disapprove of the way he's handling his job,'' said Susan Pinkus, the Los Angeles Times polling director. ``A lot of things go into that, including negative feelings about how Bush is handling the deficit, Iraq and terrorism, as well as the economy.''
While high-income Americans have prospered from Bush's policies, reaping most of the benefits from the tax cuts he pushed through Congress during his first term, a majority of high-end earners told pollsters that former President Bill Clinton did a better job than Bush in managing the economy.

Older Americans were also skeptical of Bush, just about as critical as lower-income households. Wealthy investors over the age of 50 gave Bush the same 62 percent disapproval rating on his overall job performance registered by lower-wage households.
