The Church Burnings
I am posting this in General Discussion: Politics because Chris Matthews made it political by trying to blame it on liberals and Democrats. Some of you or all of you will remember that when the Church burnings first happened Matthews stated that maybe liberals were involved. Well just in case you did not hear the news yet the police have captured suspects in the burnings and they all went to a conservative college. They claimed they were dong it as a way to have fun. The last fires were set in order to throw the police in the wrong direction. The police were able to capture the men in that one of them told a friend he had done something stupid. I wonder if Chris Matthews will be willing to talk about this story on his show tonight since he has been proven completely wrong. Maybe Democrats should demand that MSNBC makes Chris Matthews issue a direct and public apology to liberals. It only seems fair in that Dan Rather had to give at least a small apology for doing the story on Bush's missing time in the Texas Air National Guard. Dan Rather also got fired.

1. I have an easier resolution to this problem...
Don't watch Matthews. His entire audience I guarantee it is democrats and liberals who watch his show, get all indignant over it, and then rant about it on the internet. If we don't watch it, it goes away. He already has next to no viewers. Why give him any more power or attention? Nobody other than liberals heard what he said in the first place, and I guarantee nobody other than liberals are waiting to hear what he says about it.

2. Don't Watch
I do not watch Chris Matthews. However, I think many more people heard his statement than you think. Matthews is spending time on conservative talk shows and I think he says the same thing on those shows.

3. Weren't the first churches burned all black churches?
I actually watched local news long enough to see that the alleged arsonists are all white. I'm thinking that the "throw the police off the track" fires were really set because the dopes figured out that otherwise the arson could mean additional charges as a hate crime. Oh, and BTW, the conservative college was a Methodist college-I know that many Methodists are hanging their heads in shame right now.

5. The students arrested did not all go to conservative colleges
Two of them went to Birmingham-Southern College, which is a Methodist-affiliated college and one of the better in the state.

The other student went to UAB, a state school which operates a highly respected regional medical center.

7. News Report
I guess I heard the news report wrong. I thought the news report mentioned only one school. My main point was that Matthews was wrong in trying to blame this on liberals.

8. Yep, UAB is a good school. My daughter goes there -
grad student - and believe me, she is NO conservative!!!!!!!!!

Bham-Southern sends a lot of its grads to law school. As a private school, it can be pretty choosy, so these kids were either academically excellent (doubtful) or kids of "privilege".

Which would you bet on? Little shits.
