So Where Did the Abramoff Outrage Go to?
Edited on Thu Mar-09-06 09:27 AM by leftyladyfrommo
Seems like this whole thing has hit the back pages. Just like every other big story that comes out.

The Spying thing is dying, too. Congress has pretty much buried that one.

Iraq? Who even cares any more?

Torture Scandal? Yawn.

Bush adm connections to Enron? Gone.

Ports deal? That will just fade away, too.

The list just goes on and on and on.

How do these guys do this? Do they just drag things out until everyone has lot all interest? How do they get away with it?

1. A press with the attention span of a gnat...
That is the problem.

2. They rely on the short attention span of Americans
I think TV has helped with shrinking the attention spans of average Americans. Some folks I talk to say that the news is so depressing they don't pay any attention any more. Others have decided that everyone in government is a crook, and have also decided there is nothing they can do about it.

4. Well, it certainly doesn't seem like a big deal here in KC

It's wierd.

People seem to be so tired of the whole thing that they just don't pay much attention to anything.

Government is crooked. Everyone knows that. So we just try to go on with our daily lives the best we can. Iraq News is back on page 13.

Nothing Bush does is really important. Its just the same ole same ole with him and his adm.

Katrina still seems to resonate with a lot of people. There is still outrage over that - but what can you do? These guys control the govt and the law. Us little guys are just out there all by ourselves trying to do the best we can.
