If rightwinger's believe abortion is murder, then make them say...
a woman receiving an abortion should be charged with murder.

This is the tactic the right would use on us and have been using on us for over five years (i.e., any time a person is critical of the Bushies and their wars, the patriotism and loyalty of the questioner is brought up)....

so any pro-choice person should demand to know what a woman will be charged with. This will not only shut those idiots up, but also make pro-choice people finally wake up.

2. i think what the OP is saying is...
if that is what they believe...THEN MAKE THEM SAY IT, loud and clear, publicly, for all to hear.

but we all know they won't, because then they would lose.

7. What I mean is...
for the folks out there that keep equating abortion with murder, then they need to be made to say it. They need to be asked, "what are you going to charge a woman with who has an abortion?" And to follow up on this part they need to be asked if incest, sexual assault or health of the mother still demands a crime be defined.

Also, when these politicians come on the talking head shows and state abortion should be a crime, then they should be made to tell exactly what crime and what penalty are they going to assess on the woman. They can't be allowed to just say doctors or health care providers will be punished because that will let them escape the debate on this issue (what I mean by this is that if providing an abortion is made a crime, then those who provide an abortion will simply stop providing safe abortions and doing so lets these people off the hook of being required to tell what crime and penalty will be assessed to the woman.)

And we can't be hemmed in by trying to be nice on this issue. If these folks want to picket with signs of torn up babies and graphic images, asking them what they want to happen to a woman is fair game.

As for definitions....very simply,

Murder is usually the unlawful or criminal killing of by another;

Homicide is a human killing another human.

8. To the Fundies...
It IS murder. Framing in any other way is not going to change how they look at the issue. They whole heartedly believe that way and spin is not going to make them change their mind on it. The Fundies are dead set against abortion and will always be.

Trying to shift the debate to what should be done with the mother will not work. The pro-lifers do not care about the mother. Their argument starts and ends with the "baby."

They are RIGHT, on this issue dammit! And they will not deviate from it because they are right! Even when they are wrong.

3. I'd rather not blur the lines of the argument that way...
Let the positive points of being pro-choice be our argument. Playing around with definitions of murder plays into their hands and doesn't further the debate.

4. Infoluntary manslaughter would be the charge against any woman
who is sexually active and has menses. Chances are there's a fertilized ovum in there somewhere. Sure, she didn't MEAN to murder her child, but the evidence is clear. A BAYBEE died.

Ladies and gentlemen of the jury, your duty is clear. Remove this dangerous woman from our society before she kills more of her children!

5. I've got to agree with you
if they are going to call it murder, then punish it as murder. Otherwise, hands off. If it isn't "quite" murder, then their argument has no merit.

Personally, I think it is murder but I think I should have the right, in this instance, to choose whether or not to do murder.

But come to think of it..I really don't quite know the defintion of "murder." I think it is killing, let me put it that way. "murder" might be more expansive.

There are times in my life I would have done this killing and then lived with the consequences. I am grateful I have been spared that decision.

6. Sounds good...
We should also demand that anti-choice politicans boost the penalties for non-payment of child support.

9. Is it logical to only punish the Doctors?
The women are involved with that decision. Following logic they would have to be arrested. What about the Nurse? Isn't the Nurse an accomlice? In fact everyone that works at the Clinic are complicit aren't they? Logicaly, all of them would have to be arrested and charged with something.

10. I Use A Similar Argument...
...when talking about the death penalty.

If the death penalty is legal, and some of my tax dollars pay for it...I want to see public executions. Perhaps at half-time at the Superbowl. Not only that, I think all executions should include being impaled with a long spear. Perhaps we can snip off fingers one at a time with pruning shears just to enhance our viewing pleasure.

Of course when I say this, the right says...Oh, you're just kidding. And I say...Nope...if it's legal, I want to see it.

Trust me, if people were executed in public, the death penalty would be stopped immediately.
