Stop corporate corruption: Vote Democratic

That's my bumpersticker suggestion for the 2006 and 2008 elections.

With the slogan, we need to make the voting public aware of how many bad things are happening in this country, due to the Republicans' "laissez faire" attitude toward big business in America.
George W. Bush and the Republican Congress have basically turned control of this country over to big business, and they're using the free rein to line their pockets while nobody is overseeing them.
The Republicans have given away the national surplus to large corporations and wealthy individuals through their tax cuts. They've allowed corporate executives unlimited access to their offices and they've allowed the executives to write the very laws that (de)regulate their particular industries.
Without Congressional oversight, we have an oil industry that is sucking money out of our pockets on a daily basis. We have a health care insurance industry run amok. They're cutting back coverage from Americans nationwide, while raising rates at hyper-inflationary rates for those that still have coverage.
The Republicans idea of "getting tough" with outlaws is to jail Martha Stewart while Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist walks around unindicted even though he committed a far more egregious act of "insider trading" than Martha Stewart was ever accused of.
Rep. Duke Cunningham (R-California) accepted millions in bribes for steering government contracts toward certain contractors, while Dick Cheney accepts his payments in the form of campaign contributions from the likes of Halliburton and Blackwater.
It's only been with the help of the Republican Congress that big business in America has become so corrupt lately. It's clearly the federal government's role to protect the American people from a corrupt business community, but the Republicans have not only ignored their duty, they've abbeted the very corruption they are charged with fighting against.
Clearly the corrupt business community and the corrupt leadership in Washington D.C. are so closely related that they can be considered part of the same criminal enterprise. You can't get rid of one problem without getting rid of the other.
The solution to the problem with corporate corruption isn't merely to charge and convict the individuals that are breaking the laws, but we also have to oust the Republicans from the leadership of Congress and restore the Democrats to their rightful places as defenders of the American public.
We need to haul the leaders of big oil into the Senate chamber and force them, under oath, to defend their exorbitant profits in the face of crippling gasoline prices that are driving our economic malaise.
We need to stop the revolving door that allows corrupt business leaders to walk out the door with big fat government contracts, but only after dropping off campaign contributions to the Congressional Republicans.

Without a doubt there are a handful of Democratic politicians that stand up against corporate interests but the rest grovel and acquiesce to corporate donors.

The same hand that feeds the Republicans feeds the Democrats. If you want to stop corporate corruption, you have the make it a crime for corporations to participate in politics and government. That's the way it was in the early days of the Republic, but the sleazebags have taken over.

Don't give me any bullsh*t about Democrats and Republicans being equally corrupt. If you believe that, then you haven't been paying attention. Never since the days of El Duce has a country been run by it's big business leaders. That wasn't the case when the White House and Congress were controlled by Democrats. Yes, big business was able to "buy access" with Democrats in power, but never-ever were they calling all the shots, as they are today.

There will always be corruption in government and in political parties, but this is like comparing a pandemic to a local outbreak of the common cold.
