It is March 3rd, 2004. The early primaries are done, and Howard Dean has won 65% of the states delgates, and is the eventual nominee. It is all but over. Almost every candidate has conceded and have officially endorsed Howard Dean. The stubbornest is the following: Kucinich, Kerry and Clark.

Do you accept the eventual fate of the nominee? Or will you walk away and vote 3rd party or God forbid, the Unelected Fraud? Can you find it in your hearts, for those who strongly oppose Dean (you know who you are) and get back on the right track.

These infighting in DU are truly dividing us, and I want to see us once again unified and vigrously supporting the eventual nominee, whoever that may be.

You may substitute Dean for whatever candidate you prefer. Same thing applies. The key word is unification.

I could not say it better! I'm undecided between Clark and Dean, but I'll vote for Robert Byrd if he becomes the nominee!!! And I don't mean that in a bad way. I love Bobby Byrd. WE MUST HAVE UNITY AND THE MAIN GOAL IS TO DEFEAT BUSH!

6. This is actually a two sided question...

Dean isn't my first choice but I would gladly vote for him should he win the nomination. But would Dean fans possibly vote for Clark, Kerry, Gephardt, etc. should they win the primary?

8. I will vote for the nominee,

whoever it is. But I am getting more and more sure that the fix is already in, and we'll wind up with W again. I don't see this administration just saying, oh, the people have voted and we're out. I think it's going to be a hard fight and it might already be over. (I hate to be this pessimistic on Christmas Eve, but I think it's already too late. And it has nothing to do with the candidate that we choose-it has everything to do with these bastards not wanting to give up having this much power.)

9. My scenario

It is Super Tuesday, and the race has come down down to Dean vs. Clark. Dean won Iowa barely, and New Hampshire, but Clark beat Kerry in NH, and in turn, the odds, and went on to win the majority of primaries on Feb 3rd.

All through February, DU flame wars become worse, as Clark gains support from former Gephardt, Edwards, and Kerry supporters. Kucinich and Sharpton are still in (CMB is not), but the majority of their supporters have gone to Dean, with some to Clark, and others to the Greens.

Clark dominates on Super Tuesday, winning the majority of primaries, especially states like NY and CA. Dean waits on until the Florida and Texas primaries are held a few days later, then drops out. The guns of March are silent, and the Democrats are calm. Within a week or two, we put flame wars behind us, and we rally behind Clark, and turn DU into the ultimate rapid reponse site for Clark, one that makes Limbaugh up his oxy dosage.

10. i think it'll be uglier

unlike the original post, i dont see several of the campaigns being out of the running on super tuesday - and I think it'll take Texas/Florida to finally drive the nail and prevent a mess in Boston.

Dean 31% and Clark 7% nationally.

That's more than four times the numbers that Clark needs to catch up, so I wish Clark and their supporters the best of luck.

I'm not sure we need your good wishes, but they are appreciated anyway. That's the way we should conduct ourselves in this debate: not post snidely sarcastic comments intended to gloat over our candidate's apparent status as front runner, but as a way to express our solidarity and unity in the face of the uncoming conflict.

12. One reason there is so much silly infighting...

All these pointless "inevitability" threads. Why don't we just wait until the primaries and see who the voters pick?

Until then, I'm not wasting time "imagining" an "all but over" outcome. That's a psychological ploy that is not really very democratic (small "d").
