Need Separate Forum for 2006 Elections - Are You With Me On This?
Today is March 11, 2006. Midterm Elections are November 7, 2006.

We need to focus all of our efforts on the Midterm 2006 elections, to do all that we can do, give all that we can give to elect Democrats in 2006 - to take back a house of Congress.

If we are successful, we will have a voice in Washington, to investigate, get on talk shows, legislate and really make a difference. We will never get attention from the media if we remain in the minority.

If we are not successful, does 2008 matter? Any chance at 2008 will be all the more difficult,if not impossible. The media will tell us Dems are unorganized, not focused, we couldn't even win against a president with approval ratings in the 30s. If we lose, Bush will say he has more political capital..... If we lose, and Cheney resigns, and Bush appoints a VP who is a 2008 nominee - like Allen or McCain, well we will have virtually no chance.

I really really don't care about who wants to run in 2008 at this point, I don't care about who is favored, who is declared, who is doing something for 2008.

I want to read about 2006, contribute to 2006 candidates, and strategize about how I can help Democrats win in 2006. I urge DU - no implore DU to set up a separate forum for the 2006 election so like minded DUers can focus on 2006 with me.

Are you with me?

I have that forum on my list but it gets very little activity. I just checked and there is only one post since Wednesday.

6. Yes.
We need to focus on 2006. 2008 is important, and we need to keep our eyes on that as well - as politics of 2008 are going on right now, but the Midterm is coming up and we need to focus most of our efforts on that. Of course, it would help if everyone knew how to juggle and keep their eye on more than one ball at once.

It would be a great place to post strategies, actions, successes, valuable info etc. we can share & use as we work for our candidates.

(IMHO, we need to get more of us out there working for candidates and less time sitting here whining...)

12. Enough talking. Jump into action.
2006 is too important to be relegated to just another forum. It should be the principal forum around here.

People are always saying "focus on 2006"...this would enable us to do so in a more organized fashion.

19. An alternative method
People can use the Research Forum to prepare for this year's election. Accumulate talking points, strategy ideas, opposition research about probable RW candidates, etc.

The problem with the other forums is that you could post something now about Congressman Snerd's vote to cut veterans' benefits, or whatever, and by October who in his district would remember it and be able to dig it up?
