So now it comes out that the Madrid bombings were unconnected to Al-Qaeda entirely. They were local groups who were angry about the the US led war in Iraq, among other issues.
The right and Bush never factor in the response other forces will have to their actions. They never seem to realize their move will be met by counter moves.

1. That was what many people thought at the time, |
|
that it was due to Spain's support of the occupation of Iraq.
Of course, "beleivedtobelinkedtoAlQaeda" is the word many journalists prefer.
Stop the illegal occupation. Bring the troops home now!

2. as a country, we will be paying a toll on the Iraq war for decades |

The Iraq war has undoubtedly created the seeds for angry and deranged revenge seekers there and here. Just like McVeigh and John Mohammed came back to terrorize Americans, so will others who serve in for America in Iraq.
