Republican Straw Poll Blows Up In Tweety's Face
Tweety has been pimpin George Allen for a couple of months ago.

This pony show they are covering down in Tennessee just announced it's results.

First place: Bill Frist

Second place: Mitt Romney

Third Place: Write In for Bush (McCain) tied with George Allen.

McCain got some votes on his own, so Allen really came in fourth.

Tweety is confused and upset. The horse he rode in on just went lame.

3. If there is a God
we will be running against Bill Frist.

He may get it, because he and McCain are "next in line" and the Republicans usually nominate next in line.

He is by far their weakest candidate. If they nominate Frist, we would have to fuck up really badly in order to lose.

31. We can do it!
We have done that many times but none so badly as in the last 6 years.

Yes, I know about the cheating.

5. The damn thing was held in Memphis, TN!!!! Frist is from TN!
I've heard from many sources on DU and the TV that Frist had packed the house with his supporters! No big surprise there!!!!!

Forget this BS straw poll today. It doesn't mean a thing!

8. If it means anything
it means that George Allen lost some steam.

Tweety and Charles Cook and the Hotline guy were all touting him yesterday on air and saying they thought the story coming out of this was that Allen would go a strong second.

13. I'm actually looking forward to a slaughter in the Pub primary in 08!
I don't think the Party can agree on any ONE candidate this time, and we just might be able to watch the blood flow big time!

33. Are you talking about the straw poll in 2000? If so, I have no idea.
I didn't pay any attentio that kind of BS then. As far as not having a candidate, I disagree! I remember hearing VERY EARLY ON, that Shrub had $40 million+ in his war chest already and he was going to be the chosen one FOR SURE! I HATED THAT! I remember screaming at my radio back then, "Just because this idiot has the most money, THAT's why you want him?"

I'd say right now, watch who's got the $$$$$. That will be the Pub candidate!

I will make one prediction on the republican side for the 08 primary,McCain won't be the nominee despite what the media pundits say. the republican Conservatives hate his guts and they will either go for Allen,Frisk or Huckabee

35. I heard he bussed in a lot of supporters
to guarantee his "homestate" win. Something like that.

I've caught bits and pieces of this fiasco, but it sounded more like a weekend of prison bitch fighting, than some sort of patriotic gathering

Go Dems !

7. I can speak regarding Mittens (MA resident here):
He wanted the job for the title it provided in front of his name

He has done nothing with regard to governing and instead prefers to make MA the butt of his jokes

If the repugs get the Romneys they are picking Ken and Barbie:strictly for looks

25. I wouldn't wish Mittens on my worst enemy
If we're lucky, he and Mrs Mittens will move back to Utah or Michigan or some other state that will take them. But don't let that lying weasel back near Massachusetts. We don't want him, and obviously he doesn't want us either.

Frist would be a great opponent! We can go to all his rallies and Meow at him!

14. Cool Cat Killer won! Oh please, let it be Frist.
Between the insider trading, the long distance Schaivo diagnosis, the flip flop on the Dubai Ports deal, not to mention those poor little kitty cats he took from animal shelters under false pretenses and brought to his la-bore-a-tory this guy is D.O.A.

all the Democrats have to do is find someone with a pulse who can eat with a knife and fork and we'll have a Democrat in the White House--well that may be too high a standard.

How about a Democrat with a pulse.

15. Frist is essentially Bob Dole
without the war hero resume.

Frist is hopelessly bad on television and a poor speaker.

And he has stepford wife eyes.

God, I hope they nominate him.

16. Allen to me is even worse than Frist on TV - the guy looks and
speaks dumb as straw.

But I guess Americans would want to have a beer with Allen, or have Frist diagnose them from a video.

29. I don't see anyone from Virginia winning the nod for either party
Allen might have a shot a VP. I don't think either Dem has a shot at making the ticket, though.

Kaine was DOA when he gave the response to the SOTU speech, and Warner barely has a pulse.

MSNBC went from the Republican Leadership Conference to a prison documentary.
Seemed appropriate to go from one group of criminals to another.
