I think the reason many of us are pining for Al Gore is because

right now the rest of the pack just does not compare as favorably to us as he does. Not even close. I think it's as much of a negative reflection on the rest of the candidate's chances (in our eyes), as it is a positive reflection on Gore himself.

I think we're pining for Gore because we're all so frustrated that we don't have that single magical candidate who's emerged yet...that certain someone who's sweeping us all off our feet, someone who we all have confidence in, so we're turning to Gore.

Only if that certain someone emerges sometime in the next year or two will Al Gore fade into the background again. Until that happens, though, Gore will remain our big Dem hope. If no one else does sweep us off our feet by then, then Gore the candidate will probably become a reality.

As things stand now, he would be the safe choice. He's got the credentials, he's got the experience, he's got a fine overall background, he has no skeletons in his closet, and he's 5 years removed from any of Bill's skeletons. He just needs to work on his dance rhythm.

I like Feingold and Kucinich and Boxer and Conyers

but none of them could win

I don't dislike the others particularly, but they all have some serious baggage I'd have a hard time overcoming.

Dean isn't unifying the party enough in my opinion. I like what he says, but he seems to be alone on everything.

Clark needs to raise his profile if he intends to run again.

Gore has spoken out forecefully and courageously a couple of times, but needs to galvanize some support.

I like Edwards, but I don't think he has money or organization to run.

20. As a person who likes Gore,....

I think many are wrong to solely depend on him to bale us out of this tragic mess we are in. It has to be a unified effort, something that wasn't there in 2000 and 2004. I was mad as a junkyard dog that the 2000 election was stolen from him and that the SC selected *.

Now that things are ugly (and getting uglier as we speak), it's like we are looking for a saint, savior, hero to save us. This is a big mistake we are making when we think we have found the PERFECT candidate to save us. The reality is that NO democrat is perfect, NO democrat will say what we want them to say and do what we want them to do all the time

We need to get behind Gore, and the rest of the Dems that are fighting and take back 2006. Talking about 2008 only plays into the hands of the media and takes the REAL focus off * and the GOP.


That said, it's time to stop playing Rove's game and help get Dems elected.
