Kind of an interesting post over at Red State. I think this guy used to be a Freeper, maybe still is.

Anyway, he's postulating that Bush's world street creds are shot over the DPW fiasco and might not have the horsepower to deal with international events and countries.

What strikes me with this thread is-

(1) They think Cheney's the guy (with 18% popularity).
(2) It's Congress's fault(not one mention of Carlyle, Halliburton, or Jim Baker's dirty fingers in this deal)
(3) They don't reflect that after 4 years of George squawking "GWOT", maybe people think there's a problem with letting a ME country taking over key US ports.
(4) What really gets me, though, is that they all seem to think Bush ought to have more Executive power, because he hasn't fucked things up enough yet, I guess....seems like just yesterday these same people were getting all shook up with Clinton's power grab.

I suspect Nick might be softening the troops for more Bush lame-duckedness over the coming months. Might be floating a trial balloon out there to see how the Bushbots react to it.

He is a joke, along with his administration, what ever they decide to do the majority doesn't really care.

I think their days in power are numbered even with their fancy vote theft nachines.

Right now the TALKING HEADS are getting an earful (email calls) from the regular Republicans the Republicans are thinking (bush is selling our ports and the media is silent), and the talking heads are getting embarrassed to go on TV spewing the bullshit, eventually they will start telling the truth. Their game is just about up.

gotta agree....I watched Spector and Frist with their pretty lame defense of Bush today. I can only imagine how these hypocrites would be reacting if Clinton had done what Bush is doing.

Bush is a sufficiently visionary leader that he can see this. With a potential nuclear confrontation on the horizon, it is essential that the United States be represented on the world stage by someone whose word carries weight. George W. Bush no longer has the support of the U.S. legislature or even his own party. Nothing he says matters.

We are fortunate in having in place, a man who can fill these shoes quickly. A President Cheney would command the immediate respect of Middle Eastern leaders, including those in Iran. Which may be exactly what's called for.

5. Oh yeah, the Dick would be a good shoe in? Bush has too

much of an EGO to resign. It is really fun watching them implode, especially after what they did to Clinton (that was my official change of voter registration call, I voted Indy or dem previously).

I tape C-SPAN and there are so many call ins that are saying "I was a Republican (with such anger, I know that anger, that was/is me) and I will :

1). "Never vote Republican again"
2). "Will vote straight Democratic this time to send a message to the leadership".

I know their sentiments, because I did both and switched my registration.

6. A resignation would be ok, I guess, but if I got to choose

his fate, I'd prefer a self-evisceration on GOOD MORNING AMERICA.

Same for Uncle Dick and Kindasleazy. Or maybe a group Kool-Aid party, ala Jonestown. I'm flexible.

Politically, these folks have painted themselves into a corner. They used Iraqi War blood instead of interior latex.

7. Resignation is not in this guys psychological makeup.

Remember, he has never made a mistake (in his mind) - why should HE be the one to resign - a "winner" in his own mind... and all that.

Much more likely we will see him try to turn his henchmen on more GOPers in congress who he perceives to be "against him."

Force Cheney out. Have Bush appoint an acceptable Republican for VP. Then Bush resigns and the acceptable Republican becomes President.

9. Told my wife weeks ago the chances of this keep increasing

I don't forsee it this year but should we be successful in November and if polls numbers fall into the teens the chances exponentially go up. Feingold is on the right track on the Censure issue.

I am totally against impeaching Bush. I see it as a waste, short sighted and without fore thought, who would replace Bush? Cheney? Allen?

No, if we win congress, I'd rather see us go after impeaching Cheney, where we have a strong case with the Plame issue, it puts the White House on notice, and would force Bush to nominate a new VP, that would need approval by a DEMOCRATIC CONGRESS. And let it be McCain, whoever the new nominee is, will have Bush around their neck like an anvil. I don't know why so many folks here fear McCain. Bush and McCain are tied at the hip and if he becomes Bush's VP, they'll be Siamese twins.

A censure of Bush would be a solid rebuke of Bush's policies and remind the world that we are a Democracy with accountability.
