Fox's John Gibson: "Not all of Iraq's problems are Bush's fault"
It was an Associated Press story in which firebrand cleric Muqtada al-Sadr lashed out at the enemy of the Iraqi people. And for once it wasn't the Untied States. In the aftermath of a car bombing that killed and maimed so many innocent people that it actually qualified as news again, al-Sadr pointed a finger of blame at — get this — Al Qaeda.

As The Associated Press put it, al-Sadr sought to blunt rage against Iraq's minority Sunni Muslim community to prevent civil war, and he called for calm. This falls in line with stories I've been noticing for a few weeks that Iraqis have begun to go after the so-called foreign fighters living in their midst.

There is still the tiresome news of a stalemate politically among the Iraqi Shia and the Iraqi Sunnis and the Kurds, mostly on the sidelines. We certainly do hope these guys get it together and learn to play parliament together.

But if firebrand clerics get it that Al Qaeda is bad for the neighborhood, it shows that not all of Iraq's problems are Bush's fault and even the Iraqis think so. Some of the bad things are clearly Al Qaeda's fault, and Mr. al-Sadr has at long last said so publicly.

1. Funny...they didn't have THESE problems before Bush
intervened. They had OTHER problems, but not THESE problems.

3. Gibson is absolutely correct...

...except that al-Sadr didn't have an opportunity to create trouble until the US invasion and post-military destroyed all the governing and police structures. I think Bush might have been responsible for some of that...

13. I remember when al-Sadr was BAD GUY #1
and we WOULD hunt him down and smoke him out and bring him to justice......a few weeks later al-Sadr is a political force to be reckoned with....now he runs a caucus in the Iraqi parliament.

Uh-huh #1 bad guy all right.

10. The U.S. presence is not welcome in Iraq by the majority
of its people.

I talked with two of our military returnees from Iraq today. It was a whole new perspective.

They felt many of the IED's are not set by anyone but local Iraqis who are upset with our treatment and disrespect of them, in particular, their women.

They become very upset when we haul their women out of their homes in the middle of the night, often without
being fully clothed (faces, neck, feet, etc) when our troops are searching for insurgents.

They don't like our superior attitude by thinking our culture is better than theirs.

It was both of their opinion, we need to leave Iraq now.

Let's be honest, when they're happy that they can shrug off some of the blame on Al Qaeda, things are officially FUBAR.

12. Too funny, Bush asked for patience yesterday and now this
When driving yesterday, the radio news played a clip of Bush's speech where he asked for patience from the American people. This from one of the most impatient people on the planet.

Now Gibson wants us to consider that other forces are in play in Iraq, and it is not all Bush's fault. Here is the thing. We went to Iraq. We knew of should have known that all those other forces existed. None of this should be a surprise to us. The fact that it is a surprise forces me to believe we (the leaders in government didn't know what they were getting into. That belief is almost scarer b/c it means the people that should know, get paid to konw, didn't know.

15. Of course
Al Sadr is ripping on AQ. If it were up to AQ all the shiites would be dead and the shiites have political power in the new Iraq. This should surprise noone and it means nothing.

17. This is a major break through for Fox
by saying "not all the problems are Bush's fault", they are implying that they know at least some of them are. I see this as almost telling the truth, a big step for anyone at Fox.
