A Las Vegas hockey team is handing out jackets that poke fun at Cheney with the phrase "DON'T SHOOT ME I'M HUMAN" printed on the back.

Yesterday, however, Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid of Nevada did take some well-aimed shots at Republican Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist. During a short debate following the Feingold proposal of a resolution to censure of the president, Frist walked straight into the line of fire by first saying the president didn't break any laws by eavesdropping only to later state that he knew very few details of the wire-tapping.

Before the censure proposal it became clear where the ruling party of the House, Senate and Administrative branches of government is truly weak. The time-honored Republican approaches to less government and fiscal responsibility have obviously faded into the distant past.

Leading Republicans want to limit debate on their irresponsible spending policies, including a police action in Iraq that costs Americans $100,000 every minute it is allowed to continue.

Our fearless draft-dodging leader, like past presidents, lacked the power to achieve these Republican economic goals alone. These are not Bush fiscal policies, he is simply putting forth the REPUBLICAN approach to government spending that will, at the very least, haunt America for decades to come.

And in a parallel universe, the US government is pumping $100,000 a minute into trivial things like education.

I wish I could live in that universe.

In November we must hold ALL Republican leaders responsible for the fiscal policies they currently endorse, instead of hanging the blame on a puppet administrator.
