Russ Feingold; one man on a mission
When Russ Feingold got on the Senate floor yesterday, it must have occured to him that he wasn't going to expect a lot of help on his censure motion. In fact, I only know of two others who are willing to back him inthis motion. Both Sens. from Massachusetts, Ted Kennedy, and John Kerry, are the only people brave enough to come forward. In fact, the Republicans think Feingold has gone way over the line, that Catkiller Frist wanted an up or down vote on censure immediately, knowing fully well that it would have failed miserably.
Whatever you may think of Feingold personally, this is a man on a mission. He is doing what should have been done long ago. He is fighting back against this imperial president, and showing a spine, something the rest of the party sorely lacks. Wayne Allard bascially called Feingold a traitor on the Senate floor today. No Mr. Allard, your the damn traitor for even suggesting that Feingold is one. You patheitc president should be impeached for high crimes, and if your too stupid to figure that out, that's not my problem.
Keep doing what your doing Russ. The majority of the country is behind you, even though the spineless Senate Dems aren't.

1. When did you hear that Kennedy decided to support Russ?
When I called his office this afternoon, I was told he
was still looking into the issue.

Fantastic news if he did.

4. I applauded Feingold for WHAT he did . . . but I was unsure about . . .

HOW he went about it . . . until I thought it through, that is . . .

the bottom line is that, at this point, ANYONE standing up and attempting to tell the truth about BushCo has my unqualified support . . . but how Feingold went about it puzzled me -- at first . . . but I think I might have figured out his reasoning . . .

allow me to explain . . .

normally, a senator putting forward an important piece of legislation -- or a censure resolution -- would first do the necessary groundwork to line up support from his colleagues . . . then, when the resolution is introduced, a couple dozen other senators would have his back, thus lending the resolution the gravitas it deserves . . .

apparently Feingold didn't do this, and that had me scratching my head a bit . . . until I started reading the responses of other senators and Senate staff . . .

I think Russ calculated -- and probably correctly -- that trying to gin up support for this resolution in advance would be an exercise in futility -- and get him bupkus . . . most senators would advise caution, going slow, even withdrawing the resolution altogether . . . just so they wouldn't have to put their asses on the line . . .

so Russ had a choice to make: to subject himself to their namby-pamby cowardice and "sage advice", or to just damn the torpedoes and proceed full speed ahead . . . forcing THEM to play catchup with HIM . . .

which is exactly what he did . . . he introduced the resolution and put his colleagues in an extremely uncomfortable position (from their perspective), a place that they DO NOT want to be, i.e. actually taking a position on something of import . . . they've managed to avoid doing that pretty regularly, and they sure don't want to change now . . .

my response to these senators is "Tough shit! Since none of YOU are doing anything to try to hold Bush accountable, someone had to do it!" . . . and that someone was Russ Feingold . . .

so I support Russ 100% for lighting a white hot flame under their collective chickenshit asses and forcing them to either stand for the Rule of Law, or to support BushCo criminality -- the only two choices they have . . .

it's about time someone did . . .

I don't get what people on the left are thinking. First they clammor about our representatives on the left not standing up to the boy king. Then WHEN SOMEONE DOES STAND UP TO THAT WH SQUATTER they have to put the person down.:wtf:
