13. While I applaud Al Gore's championing of causes I regard
as essential, I recall thinking of him as a pretty poor choice for president, in 2000. I, personally, think his time has passed and he seems to think so, too--given his refusal to consider running.
I think Clark is a very good choice but Sen. Feingold, now that I have studied up on him, has stolen my heart as a prime choice.
Clark does not want to be vp. I don't think Feingold does, either.

Hillary is not a good maneuver and I won't support her. Unfortunately, here in Illinois, my vote in the primary will not mean much and, should she be selected, I will reluctantly vote for her, over whoever the pukes put up, but I don't like her and think she is wrong, wrong, wrong for chief executive.

We need someone who has clarity, integrity, and passion. I can tell you now, either Clark or Feingold would be a good choice, but I will choose Feingold.

32. I've always liked the guy- it's easier for me to believe that 2000
was an abberration.. and if you think about it, it's kind of understandable. You would think, going in there, that 2000 was his to lose. The country was in great shape, people were happy and relatively prosperous, the deficit was under control.. So 'playing it safe' and listening to the party nabobs who told him not to rock the boat too much (and pick Lieberman for Veep) might have seemed like a good plan.

(You know, speaking of versions, if we were bandying about the possibility of the 1992 version of HRC running, or even the 1973 version, I'd be all for her)

But I agree. My support for him is predicated on the fact that he not suddenly lose the gumption he's had for the past six years- and I certainly want him to pick a better running mate, this time around!

41. Gore may run if he has enough support. He believes in duty. Meanwhile...
Edited on Wed Mar-15-06 07:37 PM by Dunvegan
1. He sounds passionate clarion calls in his current speeches regarding serious issues such as "We The People" must rise to defend our Constitution / The Environment / Corruption in Government / Our US Global Dominance-Hegemony Threat / Diplomacy and Leadership...etc.

He's also speaking out a great deal, and this is honing his debate skills.

2. He's addressing, in a practical manner, the "right-wing media bias/lock" by co-founded an alternative media outlet, CurrentTV which is building all the traditional broadcast media (Cable Network, Radio, etc.) and narrow-casting modern media (RSS, podcasting, webpage articles, etc.)

It's very grassroots. Anyone with quality production is welcomed to submit.

Because if we cannot be heard, and if Americans are not informed, we will see the majority succumb to well-played propaganda.

Gore is taking the old "Freedon of the press is for he that owns one" concept seriously in these media-embedded and corporate ShrubCo. affiliate owned times. And, Gore has his own network for getting the word out if he can grow the network by 2008.

3. Gore is rising to dare any swiftboating, this round. He's frank and unafraid these days. Passionate. Burnt once, twice shy of backstabbing by the opposition. He played fair and now he's seemingly ready to play for keeps.

4. Experience in the White House. Won (by all current counts) the 2000 election, but dropped his fight in the best interest of letting the country get about it's business. Regrets it. Americans can be made to face the election corruptions in the 2008 election by someone who can speak from experience with the issue.

5. He's morally transparent. No scandals. No voting "Yea" on launching an invasion on Iraq.

6. His administration brought us our first surplus in I-don't-know-how-long. We're about to hit our debt ceiling of 8+ trillion dollars only 1 year into Dubya's second term.

By 2008 how many people are going to be willing to at least listen to a man who's administration brought them concrete prosperity only 7 years earlier?

7. He is one of the few Democrats with the above qualities who also has the qualifications and intellect and grasp of issues that would give us some hope of knowing what to address, and then working on it, to extract us from this monumental ruin.

8. He's a southern Democrat. He can carry both the Dixon (yes, I know about his problems last time) and the Mason.

9. America is ready for a end to greedy simpletons and a return to presidential statesmen. Americans will recognize an honest down-to-earth man, and by 2008 will be ready to actually elect one (in Gore's case, elect one again.)

BTW Tweety: Gore is Atticus Finch...Bush is Boo Radley.

And, he already won once. With landslide numbers we could ruin a Diebold coup d'etat.

....and 10...

10. He lives in San Francisco (to be close to CurrentTV's HQ) and a candidate couldn't get more instant local support for Democratic politics than here. Our local media will cover him fairly and our papers and television affiliates are still resistant to being being "owned and embedded" on the affiliate or independent level.

Plus...I live here and I have a major bias.

Flame away. But (just saying) I don't believe Gore can be counted out this early.

I like Gore and Clark but Gore lost this state over gun control and Clark is no better on this issue than Gore. I'm sure that's why he lost TN and why Edwards was hurt in NC. Sportsmen and gun owners who vote on this issue but hold every other issue in common with the Dems wouldn't have a reason to avoid a Feingold/Warner ticket and every reason to avoid a Clark Gore ticket.

2006 upcoming elections? if so, I vote Clark. That man is working the red states, where he can do the most good.... relentlessly as we speak. He's got the Fightin' Dems looking good and strong, and he's talking to the south about bringing back our 2 party system.

Feingold is also having a major impact...just don't know how and if it will help the Dems in a long run though....cause they don't seem to want to unite and be brave about supporting censure with Feingold! :(

In reference to 2008.....One of the big money guy/gal will get the nomination if the Democratic "powers-that-be" have a say so, which they normally do! Those assholes!

While Feingold restores our civil rights and takes great pleasure in burning the original copy of the USA PATRIOT Act at his first SOTU speech, Gore can sign the Kyoto treaty and show the world the a majority of Americans do care about global warming, after all.

59. Clark/Feingold or Gore
Edited on Wed Mar-15-06 09:43 PM by imlost
These three are intelligent, and progressive leaders. They all have great credentials.

I still believe the election will come down to National Security(scare-tactics). Clark is the strongest candidate to go up against McCAin.
If Clark decides to run, he has my vote and support.

68. I worked hard for Kerry's campaign...and would support him again like that

...I still proudly sport my "Kerry/Edwards" bumper sticker...from loyalty and also because I truly believe they won. (As did Gore.)

But, I almost think he should take a "bye" on the 2008 doings and run a little later...or accept a VP nomination.

He's relatively young...and could draw perspective and strength in waiting.

But, if he's the candidate I'll fight like a mother tiger once again for his election.

70. This week? Nobody.
Sometimes? Out of that limited list of choices, Gore/Feingold.
