Anyone really believe Congress is going to give Bush Iran green light?
Is it me, or does anyone else out there think that Congress giving Bush a green light to start a war with Iran is very unlikely?

With the mismanagement with the Iraq mess, and Bush's current problems, I don't think Congress will give him the authority to do so. Now, what I think is more likely to happen is for the Bushies to "encourage" some other country to start something that will quickly get the US involved.

4. Unfortunately I have no doubt that they will, except for a mere handful.
They will stand behind "the commander-in-chief" and "support the troops". the attack will mostly be done by planes dropping bombs.

5. Call me glum, but ...
... I see at least 80 Democratic votes in the House to bomb Iran, and at least 20 Democrats in the Senate.

No, I don't have names. But the party is populated by such simpering wimps these days, they'll go right along with anything that Uncle Karl blackmails them over.

And for that I cry.

10. I think they would.
All the repubs would support him 100%.

Dems like Liebermann, Durbin, Feinstein, etc. would also stand behind * 100%.

You'd have a few truly progressive Dems like Kennedy, Feingold, Boxer, etc. who would not be for it.

11. According to him, they already have.
That's his justification for everything he's done that others believe is illegal. He claims after 9-11 he was given authority to defend us from terrorists. They are already saying Iran is banking terrorists.

13. Yes, and they will argue that they only gave Bush the authority
to go to war, via the UN, and that the Iran War Resolution is not a war resolution.

Same play, almost the same cast of characters, the same stupid audience!

16. Yes, they will give *43 the go ahead to demolish Iran's nukes
Edited on Thu Mar-16-06 11:54 AM by BigYawn
They don't have much choice. Iran is ruled by a
theocracy who has openly threatened wiping Israel
off the map. Iran has threatened to close straits
of Hormuz if sanctions are imposed due to their
full speed ahead on nuclear weapons program. I can't
see how the Israel lobby will allow congress to stop
*43 from taking out Iran's nuclear installations, and
I can't blame them. If my very survival was at stake,
there are no holds barred.

Like it or not, the confrontation is almost here.
But, why can't we all just get along?????

18. He already has the green light
Thanks to the idiots who voted for the Iraq War Resolution:

"(2) acting pursuant to this joint resolution is consistent with the United States and other countries continuing to take the necessary actions against international terrorist and terrorist organizations."

Bushco is already saying that the bombs in Iraq are coming from Iran. It's the set-up to invade using IWR. It will never go to Congress. Those asshats already approved it.

Yes, b/c they've bent over & spread their cheeks for the chimperor before.

If they weren't so afraid of him, they might stop to consider that we don't have either the troops or the money for an Iran-nam debacle.

21. He will do what helps him most
If he thinks he can create a no-win vote for Democrats he will. If not, he'll declare an emergency and just attack. (the biggest thing stopping him may be we're already streched thin.) Scary thought - Nixon invaded Cambodia at a time when people were already speaking of exiting.
