I HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE Russ Feingold!

That's what many on DU were saying a few months ago after voting for Roberts.

My, have things changed. I think people might finally realize that he's not perfect, but he's still one of our best.

7. Or a "Dems Who Could Straighten Up" forum
Straighten up and fly right--ummm--correctly.

6. Progressive people are desperate for any sign that anyone
has either not drunk the Kool Aide or is coming out of its effects. I will castigate someone for doing something wrong, but then I will commend them if they subsequently do something right. It has nothing to do with "attention span" or "waffling", it has to do with reason and truth. No one is right all of the time and it is childish to think that anyone could be...

8. Right...
And political integrity, courage and perseverance are to be rewarded--as failures in these areas, such as a failure to represent your constituency and/or stand up for one's Democratic ideals is cause for grumbling amone us peasants.

9. Sometimes a nuance is just a nuance . . .
Roberts was hard to beat for so many reasons, and given traditional deference to the Executive's choices and Roberts' charm and competence, difficult to justify withholding consent.

I didn't want him on the court either, but I have to give credit to the Bushies: in a disastrous 5 years in the White House, Roberts was maybe their best decision.

11. What I fault him for -- on the leadership issue . . .
Edited on Thu Mar-16-06 10:13 AM by MrModerate
Is that he doesn't appear to have even tried to do groundwork before the Censure motion to get cosponsors. Hence potentially exposing Dems to the embarrassing quick vote that Frist tried to pull.

Feingold risked sowing disarray (like we need any more!) among Dem senators and blunting the effect of the resolution. I'd go so far as to say the WAY he's gone about Censure is a bit of a disaster, when it could have been another nail in Schimpanski's coffin.

Time will tell. No doubt there are other nails out there, just waiting to be hammered.

16. But appearances aren't everything
He may not "appear to have even tried to do groundwork before the Censure motion" but as a constituent of his for 13 years, I can tell you Russ never goes off half-cocked. Like others on DU, I suspect it is all part of a well-crafted plan. I can't help but feel that Russ has something up his sleeve.

As you said, time will definitely tell.

19. Exactly. I have the same view on him and on my Senators.
There are things I'd like to get Levin and Stabenow to change their views on, no doubt. And I wish Kerry would have opposed the Iraq War resolution. But otherwise, they're all great.

13. YOU GOT IT my friend, people forget they aren't perfect either..........
.......they also seem to forget this censure bill is a DRIP, DRIP, DRIP, DRIP situation. The longer it hangs there the more people will get on board and the neocons know it too.

15. I hated his vote for Roberts and loved his stand on other positions.
As the 'warnterra' is top of the list for me, Feingold's opposition to the patriot enabling acts, to executive dictatorship, and to the Iraq war are more important to me than his vote for fascist enabler roberts, but not much more important as there is a clear connection between all of these issues.

I think you are as much engaged in hyperbole here as your hypothetical 'many on DU'.
