With yesterdays operation "Swarmer" now underway, several things pop into my head. 1, Now the Republicans who went off the reservation with George over Iraq, will now get back on the bandwagon. Nothing interests them more than the smell of gun powder, and killing people and breaking things.
2, This gets Russ Feingold off the front pages. Feingold and his censure motion were beginning to find a little bit of traction, now that's completely gone away.
3, This action will certainly give Bush a bump in the polls. When military operations begin, there is usually a "get behind the troops and the president" mentality.
4, Now, we are taking sides in the war. This operation is against insurgents in the Sunni triangle. The Shiites will love the fact that the US is taking out Sunni's. But how will the Sunni's react to this?
5, How will the rank and file Democrats react? Will they criticize Bush for this action? Will they get behind it?
I have more questions, but these are a good starting point. Also, this is a tipping point in the war. Bush is taking a huge gamble with this operation.
