The New Black Panther Party and its leader Attorney Malik Zulu Shabazz, representing the masses of the Black Nation that have been displaced, murdered and abandoned due to the negligence of and the war waged by the Government Officials of the United States, will launch a weekend of mobilization that will give rise to a never before seen stage in the Afrikan Liberation Movement. The dates of March 17th - 19th will mark epic progress for establishing a self-perpetuating and ever rejuvenating foundation for an action oriented program of self-help for Black people. An agenda is being carried out by a sincere, dedicated, militant group of humanitarians, professionals, students, and revolutionaries. Saturday, March 18th at 6 P.M. a rally will be held for the Black Family to unite and strengthen our alliances to have the greatest impact when actualizing the very needs of our community.

Atty. Shabazz and members of the New Black Panther Party from all over the nation will convene in order to confront the life threatening issues on the battle ground/mass grave of New Orleans. Here, on the very soil of New Orleans is where the plot to destroy the Black civilization has continued in such a blatant and arrogant manner, so it is fitting that here is where direct effective action be taken by the people who have suffered immense casualties, in addition to physical, mental and spiritual disfranchisement. This effort, on behalf of the Panthers has the full support of the people, as well as their respective organizations and representatives. It is agreed that ensuring the absolute freedom and independence of Black people, economically, educationally, socially, and politically by way of all means, resources and methods available is the foremost task of the Black Nation.

The New Black Panther Party leadership, membership and supporters have not and will not sit idly by, while our people continue to have a list of inadequately met needs. Reports from U.S. news reports claim that donations given for the Katrina and Rita disasters reached record breaking numbers. Despite this, the masses of our people have been spread across the nation, many on unfamiliar grounds, and given little to no resources. The strategy clearly disabled the aggrieved from creating coalitions and creating progressive change.

It has been has been over six months since the hurricanes touched down on U.S. soil, and there are still neighborhoods in shambles, and people risking their lives by living in sub-human conditions just to avoid the gentrification, or white takeover, of the place they call home. To add insult to the injuries of the experience and its effects, the survivors have faced unethical/unjustifiable incarceration and eviction, received nearly no aid from insurance companies, are confronted with escalating bills and the forced predicament of home schooling, while similar problems continue to mount. Meanwhile, evidence continues to pile verifying the negligence of the numerous Government factions, plans are carried out for the economic redevelopment of the ports and lands without the involvement of its original citizens, Mardi Gras celebrations take place, and another hurricane season quickly approaches without proper defense of its possible devastation.

The very acknowledgement of this criminal Government by the citizens who were labeled and dismissed as "refugees", along with their larger family, rests on the fact that the constitutional rights of our people has not fully been exercised although perfectly justified. For centuries Black people have made any and all attempts to live peacefully within the borders of a land and society who's very existence their labor and intellect is responsible for, alongside a people and their subsequent establishments that continue to perpetuate slavery and dispense inhumane, fatal treatment. It is within this lifetime, through this and proceeding generations that a true revolution will take place in unconventional civil rights fashion and with no regard to inevitable opposition. This weekend will institute means for this new stage being set, for with the unity and support of our people there is nothing too great to conquer and reclaim.

36. The just passed Patriot Act will allow for the imprisonment of anyone
who even entertains the idea of "revolution." I believe under this new Patriot Act, even demonstrators will be arrested under criminal charges that's why any demonstrations must be massive.

Martin Luther King: Beyond Vietnam -- A Time to Break Silence
In 1957, a sensitive American official overseas said that it seemed to him that our nation was on the wrong side of a world revolution. During the past ten years, we have seen emerge a pattern of suppression which has now justified the presence of U.S. military advisors in Venezuela. This need to maintain social stability for our investments accounts for the counterrevolutionary action of American forces in Guatemala. It tells why American helicopters are being used against guerrillas in Cambodia and why American napalm and Green Beret forces have already been active against rebels in Peru.

It is with such activity in mind that the words of the late John F. Kennedy come back to haunt us. Five years ago he said, "Those who make peaceful revolution impossible will make violent revolution inevitable." Increasingly, by choice or by accident, this is the role our nation has taken, the role of those who make peaceful revolution impossible by refusing to give up the privileges and the pleasures that come from the immense profits of overseas investments. I am convinced that if we are to get on the right side of the world revolution, we as a nation must undergo a radical revolution of values. We must rapidly begin...we must rapidly begin the shift from a thing-oriented society to a person-oriented society. When machines and computers, profit motives and property rights, are considered more important than people, the giant triplets of racism, extreme materialism, and militarism are incapable of being conquered..

Perhaps a new spirit is rising among us. If it is, let us trace its movements and pray that our own inner being may be sensitive to its guidance, for we are deeply in need of a new way beyond the darkness that seems so close around us.

14. The yellow sign says it all -
Bush is the symptom.
Capitalism is the disease.
Revolution is the cure.

Bush is a symptom and so were Clinton and Bush 1 and Reagan and most of our politicians, media, celebrities, business people...

Capitalism, consumerism, greed, materialism is the disease.

(r)Evolution is the cure. Toward a people-centered society.

13. Suddenly, it's the Sixties again!
So much of what's going on right now reminds me of the mid to late sixties. An unpopular war, political involvement among the masses, protesting in the streets, civil rights challenges, women's rights challenges, etc.

It's like some kind of a flashback!

PEACE, MAN... :hippie:

28. I think you may be right
It's going to take some horrific event to wake up everyone. And it will likely be here on American soil. And it won't be terrorism. At least, not in the traditional sense. It will be American citizens vs. the government.

And after the bloodshed, people will slowly see what they've known deep down inside all along: our government is not protecting us, it is abusing us. When this happens, people will also see our government is killing us here at home, as well as in Iraq.

15. "Ya say you want a Revolution ........"
Great song..
Much great music came out of the sixties, calls for peace, revolution, anti-establishment, and anti-war.
Great time to be growing up and its too damn bad we have to repeat it in our lifetime.
If you're going to New Orleans, PLEASE be safe and thank you for working to make this world a better place..

This is our America and this is our democracy, first.

I'll light a candle for you all..

THE FBI'S COVERT ACTION PROGRAM TO DESTROY THE BLACK PANTHER PARTY

INTRODUCTION

In August 1967, the FBI initiated a covert action program -- COINTELPRO -- to disrupt and "neutralize" organizations which the Bureau characterized as "Black Nationalist Hate Groups." 1 The FBI memorandum expanding the program described its goals as:

1. Prevent a coalition of militant black nationalist groups....

2. Prevent the rise of a messiah who could unify and electrify the militant nationalist movement ... Martin Luther King, Stokely Carmichael and Elijah Muhammad all aspire to this position....

3. Prevent violence on the part of black nationalist groups....

4. Prevent militant black nationalist groups and leaders from gaining respectability by discrediting them....

5. . . . prevent the long-range growth of militant black nationalist organizations, especially among youth.
