There are people that stick their finger in the air to see which way the wind is blowing. There are those that always play it "safe". They refuse to follow their hearts or their conscience. They wait to see the polls first. They think of the political consequences. They are followers.
Then there are those that follow their hearts and consciences and seem to have an innate ability to know what people are feeling before they ever see any polls. They make decisions on what they deem is the right and best thing for the people, not what might be politically popular at the moment. They are not afraid to express their opinions, no matter if unpopular. They are leaders.
If the Democratic Party does well in this fall's elections, Howard Dean will be re-evaluated. He may be considered a political genius, not afraid to try something different or to say things that are too controversial for a lot of politicians. If the truth is pursued on the unlawful acts of this Administration, Russ Feingold may turn out to be the hero that kept it alive when others were too fearful to take a chance. They chose silence. What's the old saying about victory has a thousand fathers?
