When officials are challenged with their assessments by folks such as former PM Alawi suggest there is now a civil war - they simply say - no its not. We won't let that happen. No official has told us that its a civil war. (As if it is only a civil war when bush or rummy decide to call it a civil war.)

Think about this - they (bushmachine) seriously are trying to tell folks that what they couldn't get done (rebuilding and peace/stability) in three years is miraculously all going to fall in place in less than nine months.

Absolutely ridiculous - and so brazenly contemptuous of the American Public in the sense that they presume that if they say this is true - even in absence of evidence suggesting quite the opposite - that the public will come back in line and support their policy.

tide is turning in Indiana - three out of seven repub seats are very close races... Bush's numbers have dropped to where his negatives far outweigh his positives. Not sure yet that folks are moving their antibush feelings to the party (as in voting differently in congressional races) - but perhaps more do nothing arrogance, if parrotted by goper running for congress, some of the antipathy will translate in the voting booth. Now will the shift be large enough so that funny results get real attention and scrutiny? Probably not - but here's to hoping.

The best illustration I can give you is that they think Ben Nelson is a democrat (and the approve of his voting record) and they think that Tom Osborne is governor material.

Perhaps your red staters are even redder than my red staters (those outside of the metro areas which tend to be centrist to liberal). Big shift against bush - but not necessarily (yet) translating towards dems. Interesting read. From what you say, if we ever read such a thing from Nebraska, then we will know that the winning margins for dems will be so large that cheatin' machines won't work.

Think - we now have seen evidence that bush was warned about how serious Katrina was likely to be...

but not only was he off yukking it up at fundraisers... his advisors had to put a DVD together of real news coverage of the storm and its aftermath for him to be bothered to even *ASK* what happened when the storm hit, and were people okay.

Poor gop-ers - don't get that most of us find that to be a pretty disgusting display - that lack of concern, until it came down to *his* image... and that is but one mere example.

Folks at the WH are nuts - trying the same old spin as pixie dust and still expect people to believe what ever it is they are being told ...
