3. The Speaker of the House should be Louise Slaughter
The Senate Majority leader should be either Dick Durbin or Pat Leahy.

5. Oh yes.
I like Louise, but I would love to see someone from from the black caucus. Wouldn't that be something?

I think Leahy may be too "mature". If Russ wasn't running for prez....

7. Leahy is only 65.

He's reputed to be the toughest Democratic partisan in the senate. There's a reason Dick Cheney resorted to swearing at him. Anyone who can make Cheney swear at him like that can face down Republicans in these hyper-partisan times.

If we wanted to go young, there aren't too many options. I think the youngest Democrat is Mark Pryor of Arkansas, and I don't think we want him. Obama would be a waste as majority leader.

On edit: Forget Durbin. He's my senator, but latest breaking news says that he thinks censure is "premature".

4. I think Reid would be okay as Senate Majority Leader.
I also think Pelosi as Speaker of the House would be nice. I'd like to see Murtha become House Majority Leader. Conyers will be the House Judiciary Committee Chairman. In my opinion, that position suits him best. I think Feingold should be Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman.

6. As I understand, ranking members get the chair
Murtha is focused on ending the war. When that's done he will likely fade back into the background. I had never heard of him before he came out.

8. My choices
Russ Feingold Senate majority leader

Conyers House majority leader

We need leaders who will actually lead.

9. If given a choice, I would want Conyers to
remain on the Judiciary committee and start issuing subpeonas.
