3. They are just letting the Dubai deal lie low for a while...
It isn't going away.

After some "study", the deal will be quietly rubber-stamped.

6. There is a reason DPW paid far over market value on the US
ports (separate clause).

DPW and their US guys, James A Baker and Vin Weber, are not idiots. All the talk about the admin's "surprise" was just bs.

I guarantee the early termination penalties are disastrous. Keep in mind that the contract is sealed, a done deal. The Brits (as sellers) would be saddled with that penalty and Bush cannot afford to do that to Blair. If Congress somehow snubs the deal, the US will have to pay the Brits and DPW and then subsidize the new "buyer", which will be an all-to-obvious shell. The public and conservatives would freak right out.

It will prove less painful to let the deal slip under the door than to dredge it back thru the media.

This will follow the line of least resistance.

I may be wrong, but I don't think so.

I'm saying mid- or end of April.

7. Hypocrisy
The hypocrisy from the Bush Administration on this issue is just amazing. The double standard they used in this case and have used in other cases is just crazy. On one day and considering one country they say the country should be attacked. On another day and concerning another country they want to give control of US ports to that country.
