GWB "Saddam did not allow weapons inspectors into Iraq." WHOOPSIE!
Edited on Tue Mar-21-06 06:19 PM by mzmolly
I feel we could spend an entire day "reminding" our great leader and the media of THE OBVIOUS TRUTH.

UNITED STATES advises weapons inspectors to leave Iraq - 3/17/2003

VIENNA, Austria (AP) — In the clearest sign yet that war with Iraq is imminent, the United States has advised U.N. weapons inspectors to begin pulling out of Baghdad, the U.N. nuclear agency chief said Monday.

Mohamed ElBaradei, head of the International Atomic Energy Agency, said the recommendation was given late Sunday night both to his Vienna-based agency hunting for atomic weaponry and to the New York-based teams looking for biological and chemical weapons.

"Late last night ... I was advised by the U.S. government to pull out our inspectors from Baghdad," ElBaradei told the IAEA's board of governors. He said U.N. Secretary-General Kofi Annan and the Security Council were informed and that the council would take up the issue later Monday.

2. AAR played a clip of Shrub
I think it was this morning. I believe it was in front of the UN where he said he was pulling the inspectors. Somebody really should play this clip alongside the clip where he says Saddam wouldn't let them in. Talk about rewriting history!

7. Don't you know that those were 'preemptive lies'
planted by the 'liberal media' in advance of the war? You damn liberals knew all along that our glorious leader was trying to avoid a war at all costs but he suspected, and rightly so I might add, that Saddam was bound to attack us on 9/11 giving us no choice but to fight them over there because they attacked us over here! I'll bet you all were in on it and that's how you knew what stories to plant well ahead of the war! You're just trying to make Bush look bad!

Or so I expect to read on that other site in 3...2...1... :)

9. He is right on top of the important details...that just isn't one of them
that was simply a lie to cover up the reality that he went to war because while Bush could never figure out why Cheney thought it would be a good idea. It seems that Cheney decided before Bush was running that Cheney would be in charge of foreign policy.

11. Nah, this is and was Bush's war - always.
That's why no one has been fired. They all followed orders - and they all made some cash.

12. No one ever talks about how Iraq destroyed long range missiles too
Under U.N. supervision, Iraq destroyed a number of long range missiles that were deemed threatening not long before Bush made the inspectors leave and rushed into the invasion.

13. It's the Goebbels technique.
Tell a lie often enough and it becomes the truth.

These neocons and their satellites in the media excel at this strategy.

15. Curious to be sure.
I can understand Bush lying to make a buck - but what gives on the media front? Oh yea, making a buck. I read recenlty that cable tv news ratings increased by about 300% plus after the war.

17. I agree.
There's no doubt about it anymore.

We've seen it before, read about it in school, saw the movies, knew they could do it, and so they did.

16. An example from July 2003, last paragraph in link.
"The larger point is, and the fundamental question is, did Saddam Hussein have a weapons program? And the answer is, absolutely. And we gave him a chance to allow the inspectors in, and he wouldn't let them in. And, therefore, after a reasonable request, we decided to remove him from power,"

19. Great Post mzmolly!
I think the boy-king made a beeeeg mistake today. He's reopened the whole discussion about the run-up to the war. He lied....again, in front of the camera's, in a very high profile unambiguous way. He's going to have to readdress this question again and again until he admits that it was his unilateral decision to invade and start this elective war while all indications were that the UN were searching and not finding these WMD. He could have waited, there was no compelling reason to invade if the premise was that we needed to disarm Saddambecause he was going to hit us any minute now with nukes and mushroom clouds.

But that was never their agenda. It was about the oil and making sure that we controlled the spigot.

He must assume that 5 years is ancient history....

21. That's my thinking. Is Dean running his PR campaign or what?!
Why on earth would they want to re-make the shoddy case for a war that Americans are FINALLY waking up about?

Let's see if the media does their jobs - in the least.

Indeed it was about oil, and the rising price of Gas and record financial gain for Bush's oil cronies is hurting Americans in every way imaginable.
