He's a freakin' actor (and not a particularly talented one imho). He has a baggage. I can't think of anything in his past that qualifies him as a credible spokesperson on any issue of general interest. Of course he's gonna be characterized as a nut job. Maybe I missed it, but when has Charlie Sheen ever evidenced the slightest interest in anything political. Yeah his dad is politically active, but that doesn't mean squat. Martin Sheen has contributed to Democratic candidates. I can't find any record that Charlie has ever given a dime in political money..too busy spending it on hookers I guess.

Look, Charlie Sheen may be a perfectly fine person, but when someone with his history pops up talking about 9/11 conspiracies, he's gonna be ridiculed. You could say the same thing about Paul Reubens (Pee Wee Herman) or dozens of others as well.

Whether he is an actor, a cabdriver or works at the In and Out Burger, he has a right to speak his mind in this country. Because he is a celebrity, the media will give him a more public forum than the cabdriver or others. Just because someone becomes famous doesn't mean that the First Amendment no longer applies to him.

But if a cabdriver or the In and Out Burger guy offers up his opinion, no one reports it because no one thinks that they have any particular expertise that warrants paying particular attention to their opinion. And if CNN ran a story saying some guy at the In and Out Burger is questioning the 9/11 story, most folks would go WTF? (Just as I'd go "WTF" if the In and Out Burger guy announced that in his opinion Saddam was behind the 9/11 attacks). My point is that Sheen is no different than the cabdriver or the In and Out Burger guy -- he is not a credible spokesperson on the topic he is discussing. As such it is to be expected that he'll be attacked, just as I would attack a RW actor if they offered up their opinion on the causes of poverty in America.

The so called "Jersey Girls" who lost their husbands/loved ones in the towers, who were instrumental in demanding that an investigation be done, but unfortunately are still trying to get answers..

several of these very important questions were raised by the HOST of CNN's Showbiz - which operates in NYC, and who expressed that he too have been asking these questions, have been demanding that the studios broadcast the collaps of Building 7, and making the appropriate comparasons to the towering infernal in Spain i think it was last year.. etc etc..

the National Geographic producer that was on the show to claim that there is an obvious explanation, was laughable and to any discernable viewer she discredited her own comments, about what is not obvious to the "untrained eye" but that everything was obvious. (yes dear, everything about the controlled demolition was sort of obvious, but not in the way you put it!)

All this on Mainstream Media - CNN no less.

Do all of you think that "what really happened" on 9/11 is really known? The 9/11 widows group doesn't. Nor do I. Nor do many others. Let's take his statements point by point:

1. "the federal government was covering up what 'really happened'":

Lots of evidence of this, in Bush/Cheney resisting ANY gov't investigation; in their refusal to testify in public, refusal to testify under oath, refusal to testify except together, refusal to allow anyone to record or take notes re: their 'testimony', etc.; in flimsy and ridiculous gov't reports, full of holes; and in failure to hold ANYONE accountable, for anything--including, in my opinion, the biggie, the failure to make ANY effort to protect our nation's capitol, with an hour's notice, and the complete breakdown of NORAD standard procedures on that day, and on that day only.

2. "It seems to me like 19 amateurs with boxcutters taking over four commercial airliners and hitting 75 percent of their targets, that feels like a conspiracy theory. It raises a lot of questions.":

It sure does--raise a lot of questions. These hijackers failed flight school! Even in small planes training--and they had NO training in commercial jets. In particular, the maneuvering of the plane that hit the Pentagon would have been extremely tricky even for an experienced commercial jet pilot. The hairpin turn and the rapid descent (without crashing) were almost impossible feats. And there was all kinds of weirdness around who the hijackers were--an instant FBI list of them, never corrected to this day, with a third of the names turning out to be people who are alive and well; an in tact passport found in the crumbled-into-dust WTC; red flags all over the map, with supposed 9/11 perps lapdancing, drinking, walking into a gov't Ag office and asking for a loan, and otherwise leaving a trail of breadloaves, not just crumbs, behind them. What kind of behavior is that, for the worst conspiracy/attack on the U.S. ever? It doesn't add up.

3. "...the collapse of the Twin Towers looked like a 'controlled demolition.'":

In fact, it does. That's just what it looks like. And the gov't report on it is absurd, full of gaping holes, and explains exactly nothing (for instance, the collapse of Building 7, which wasn't hit by any plane--collapsing straight down, like the other two, as per a demolition; or the evidence that plane fuel was all burned off in the initial explosion and could not have "melted" the towers--so many unanswered questions!).

4. "...we owe it to the families, we owe it to the victims, we owe it to everyone's life who was drastically altered, horrifically, that day and forever. We owe it to them to uncover what happened.":

I agree! And I am by no means satisfied that we DO know what happened. One thing I want to know is where Donald Rumsfeld really was that morning--Rumsfeld who had pulled all NORAD decisions into his own hands just three months before, and then went AWOL during the crucial hour, while our nation's capitol and the Pentagon itself, were left defenseless.

Everything about it screams that it was a cover up conspiracy of some kind. There are too many unanswered questions, too many red flags waving in the air.

I understand Charlie Sheen may not be a brilliant spokesperson for a cause, but more and more people are beginning to take an interest in what's going on in our country these days. The grass roots movement is growing, and that means a lot of new participants. I welcome all, including actors, because they do have the ability to get the media's attention, which is of great importance these days.

I do not believe the official story of what happened on 9/11. If it is indeed true, it shows our government is highly incompetent, and completely dropped the ball. The other alternatives may be worse, but I believe the truth should be revealed, and let the chips fall where they may. If we have government officials running scams on the American people, we need to know about it and deal with them in a legal manner.

The anti-swiftboaters are winning the argument, hands down.

People who have nothing to say--or who are liars--always resort to tactics like this, referring to a person's past failures, or twisting and lying about their history. These asshats have no idea what Charlie Sheen is doing or who he is these days. My sense of him is that he had a wild youth and has sobered up. Is his wild youth to be held against him? Does it mean that he can never speak the truth? What crap! Saint Augustine had a "wild youth" (a lot wilder than Charlie's, if Augustine's "Confessions" is any guide), and he ended up a "saint" and a "Father of the Church" (for what that's worth)!

What an utterly stupid thing to say--that someone trying to make a serious comment on an important issue took drugs as a kid! As if that were pertinent. The only reason these lamebrains KNOW what Charlie did as a kid, is that he was an actor and has a famous father actor. You might as well indict half the kids in the USA, and revile them, and never allow them a serious thought or free speech ever again.

One of the commenters there, however, says that all hope is lost--that the bad guys have already won--and seems to be saying that we might as well give up on the truth. I don't buy that at all. NEVER, NEVER, NEVER give up, on the truth, on the good, on democracy, on your right to vote*, and on efforts to improve the human race and create a better world! NEVER GIVE UP! NEVER!

Anyway, as I said, as far as "swiftboating" goes, they are being drowned out by people who think that "what really happened" on 9/11 is rather an important issue, and who are glad Charlie Sheen spoke about it. And I agree with "radio4progressives" that this matter is finally starting to get the attention it deserves--as is another very important issue: OUR NON-TRANSPARENT ELECTION SYSTEM.
