1. Sometimes it may be the only way to PROTECT Democracy.....

......but to promote? I would think by EXAMPLE. Of course, you always have the pre-emptive war strategy that attempts to spread Democracy the same way that Nazism, Facism, and Communism were spread.....WITHOUT THE RECEIVING COUNTRY ASKING FOR OR WANTING IT!!

2. You have a lot of ex President of US

Warning about the military complex.
During the cold war one maybe has justification
But in this time there just no ground for sustain US spending on military and upkeep of so many bases worldwide.
The fact is that US use to be a rich country
The fact is that US military spending is too big and unsustainable for the long run
One need to look at the Power of Nightmare for some answers.

Does you ex President in their wisdom do know the power of such grouping
Are we seeing the grouping using its power to continue the domination of the US wealth through its share of the yearly US budget.

Whatever the case one need to look at HISTORY and the Rome empire
It collapse because it could not maintain its military expanditure for keeping all its conquer countries under control.

Well the war on terror will justified a major allocation to military for many many years.

Money that would and can be translated to benefits for the people or to build up the country wealth.
One do not need to be an accountants to see that if take from US military spending the country will do fine maybe US people will enjoy the best benefits in the world and still has huge surplus.

All this is possible but me think your Military Complex is too strong and will have their way and share is the US budget for a long long time.

3. Very few peaceful years.

In all, the US has had only 20 out of 230 years with out being involved in war somewhere for some reason. From what I could find, the longest stretch was from 1946 to 1949 (if you don't count the cold war which started around 1945). The US may very well be the most war like country the world has ever seen.

The idiot says democracies don't go to war??? What a moron.
