Rep Cynthia Davis(R) MO, on sex. Read it and be afraid. Very afraid.

Dear (redacted),

I appreciate your dedication to your legislative duties while on Spring Break. Your letter seemed to indicate that if we create chemical and pharmaceutical ways to tamper with mother nature, then we will solve the problem. Even if you solve a physical problem you still have not solved the moral, emotional and spiritual problems that come with a promiscuous lifestyle.

When I was listening to the debate last week I wondered what kind of man would want to enjoy free sex and then expect her to provide for her own contraceptives? These are the kind of men who want free whores. Any man who would be so low life as that does not deserve to have any woman love him. Smart women will stay away from men who use them and abuse them.

Why is it that most of the e-mail letters I get on this topic is from men? I have concluded that the chemicals and drugs are their way to have all the goodies and not pay the price. When you encourage this behavior, you create more of it. In other words, if the state starts paying for contraceptives we will have more babies than if we just teach people to not expect free prostitution from poor people. Don't you think having to pay child support for the next 18 years is a suitable disincentive?

I learned this from teaching my own children: Natural consequences is usually the best teacher. Bailing them out only encourages them to be irresponsible the next time. Some people think that we will the rate of teenage pregnancy if we put children in classes that teach them how to use birth control. (sic) This backfires for the same reason. More kids are prompted to experiment with sex if you teach them that this is expected behavior.

The irresponsible men love it when women think they are supposed to give away free sex without any consequences. However, you still have not solved the problem of the increase of sexually transmitted diseases that you are creating by encouraging free sex. Susan Phillips said it best when she said that sexual behavior needs to be between a husband and a wife, not between women and the state. The problem is not the babies, it is the lack of a family. Bottom line: publicly funded contraception will create additional moral squaller (sic) and works against the Republican principle of encouraging personal responsibility.

Thank you again for your interest in debating this topic. I am sure that this theme will be coming up again later in the session.

Sincerely,
Cynthia Davis

1. Besides poor grammar,
this woman is living in a dream world. For one thing, the men she describes aren't going to stop having sex because of fear of paying child support because these men are the most likely never to pay it. For another thing, a vast majority of the poor people being denied contraception aren't "immoral"-they are married and want to limit their families, for heaven's sake!

3. Sounds like she believes in evolution, survival of the fittest:
"Natural consequences is usually the best teacher. Bailing them out only encourages them to be irresponsible the next time." No comment as I am trying to moderate my language.

Changed my mind, what a piece of crap.

4. How is it that today's elected officials seem to function mentally
on the level of a 12 year old?

5. Brain A'splode!!!
"In other words, if the state starts paying for contraceptives we will have more babies than if we just teach people to not expect free prostitution from poor people."

If we provide contraception, that will result in more babies????? WTF?

Does she even know what the word contraceptive means?

"Free" prostitution? Again, does she understand English or is she just a squawk box that parrots whatever her handlers feed her?

And having grown up poor...I must've missed the classes that taught me to spread my legs for free to anybody that wanted it. (not that I spread them for money either, but you know what I mean)

6. I agree that we should pay attention to this--both to the evidence of
Republican illiteracy, ignorance and lack of morality, and to the unbelievable arrogance in comparing adult citizens to her children and presuming to "teach them a lesson." It certainly should be a concern that such a Puritan powermonger could be holding public office. But I disagree that we should "be afraid--very afraid."

Fear accomplishes nothing. When I learned that one of the two rightwing Bushite corporations that 'counted' 80% of the nation's votes in 2004, using "TRADE SECRET," PROPRIETARY programming code, with virtually no audit/recount controls, was ES&S, a spinoff of Diebold (the other rightwing Bushite corporation that 'counted' our votes under a veil of secrecy), and that ES&S was initially funded by rightwing billionaire Howard Ahmanson, who also gave one million dollars to the extremist 'christian' Chalcedon Foundation, which, among other things, touts the death penalty for homosexuals, and then when I learned where the name "Chalcedon" comes from--the Church Council in 451 AD at which a narrow, patriarchal faction of the new religion gained ascendancy, banned and anathematized all other views, and cemented church and state together, with this narrow faction's views to be enforced by the sword, thence to a thousand years of darkness, witchburnings, bookburnings, inquisitions, pogroms, annihilations of Pagans, Jews and other Christians, ignorance, misery, serdom, slavery, the loss of literacy, the loss of the entirety of classical learning in medicine, biology, mathematics, engineering, astronomy, architecture, philosophy, religion, literature and the arts, and the utter oppression of the human mind and caging of the human spirit...

I was not afraid, just more determined than ever to defeat them.

Because, in fact, the human mind is ever curious, and the human spirit cannot be caged. Those who try to cage it will always lose, in the end, and will gain nothing of true joy, which derives from unfettered learning, discovery and creativity. The human brain is itself a revolution, and it creates rebellion and revolution. Its goal is freedom, and the lesser brains among us cannot change this. THAT is "the law" of HUMAN nature.

7. Throw Diebold and ES&S election theft machines into 'Boston Harbor' NOW!
NOW!

...if you want to be free of ignorant assholes like this, sooner rather than later.

8. Certifiably insane
the fact that such a woman could get elected is evidence of profound "moral squaller" in her district. As for the Republican principle of personal responsibility, Smirk has blamed his disastrous reign on Clinton, the media, Saddam, Congress, Al Queda, and France.

9. She's spitting up Kool-Aid.
One fallacy in her argument is her perception that providing information means that having sex is expected. She completely misses the boat, not that she cares, just for the sake of spewing talking points.
