Scary thought: large scale records thefts could be coordinated neocon
effort to force us into RFID chip implants.

here's what occurred to me last night: we have been having multiple and increasing "thefts" of people's records, sensitive information, like citibank, credit bureaus, and most recently a govt. office, social security records I believe.

WHAT IF the whole plan was to make people SCARED enough about identity theft to make them more acquiesent to getting ID chip implants?

We KNOW the neocons are heavily into this industry.

Here's the scenario I envision: increasing amounst of thefts of private records, with the necessary handwringing on part of the administration. Quietly, RFID "readers" (substations that can detect and indentify a chip in the vicinty, start getting put up everywhere. Have you noticed the "cameras" many municipalities are putting up at intersections, supposedly to stop red light offenses?

Bushchimp comes on TV and says "yeah, that's right, ID theft is a big problem. Imagine you go to pay for something and you can't because SOMEONE HAS STOLEN YOUR IDENTITY!
As long as these private records exist in an outside location you're vulnerable. What could be better than if we implant these portable chips in you? NO ONE COULD GET TO THEM! perfectly safe! and all your vital info, right there, where only YOU could access it!

----now, of course, once they get these chips in us, they can herd us and restrict us from whereever they wish. Want to protest? nope, can't get past the RFID readers. Your chip can be PERMANENTLY put on a watch list and you can be prevented from buying or selling. You can be prevented from being hired.
All done electronically. If you DO decide its time to overthrow the govt, or buy pot, or march in a peace march, YOU CAN BE PREVENTED FROM DOING SO, herded into the halliburton detention centers, and disposed of.

I realize this is tinfoil territory, but wouldn't they start it this way? increasing records thefts?

1. Pardon the pun, but OH GOD!
This would fit in with their need to make armageddon happen... we have to take the mark of the beast in order to buy and sell.

Those idiots.

2. Geez - I just saw "V" last night.
Anymore I wouldn't put anything past those criminals (on a huge scale).
Rachel Maddow had a 9/11 conspiracy discussion this morning. Her guest seemed trying to debunk the idea that our government was involved, but he was having a difficult time explaining several things. Any more I am not sure tin foil is strong enough. May need to upgrade to pure lead.

4. What the hell is going on with this?
In the last week, I've gotten two letters from (one from a doctor's office and one from a financial institution) saying that they had a computer stolen with MY private records on it and that I'm at risk for identity theft. Last year, I had another letter from a different medical group stating the same thing.

It really makes me wonder what is going on and if it is part of a more nefarious scheme. And what really irks me (and makes me even more suspicious) is hearing that Congress is trying to pass a law that makes it impossible for me to put a freeze on my credit. And it seems like I remember something about identify theft not being a good enough reason for declaring bankrupcy.

It almost seems like there is a concerted effort underway to steal people's records and personal information. I keep wondering why this is happening so much lately and what is going to be the result of all of this.

My tin foil hat is tightly on!

5. It's like saying the anti-virus companies are writing the viruses so
that we'll buy their "protection." I don't think either theory is tin-foiled or aluminum-sided. Falls right into line with what we know about the ruling class.

8. Doubt anybody cares enough about you to implant a chip. But I
Edited on Fri Mar-24-06 04:16 PM by applegrove
do see the need for the homeland security to have a file on just about every single american. Why not. All the futurists predicted it. Saves resources.

That being said - I doubt very much anyone is running around stealing records. They have a right to those records by the patriot act.

So there.

All * would have to do is to hire a company to manage the system and boom - GOP has all the records. As if the Rove doesn't have person by person voting records anyhoo.

Relax.

It is the way it is. For each "breakdown in private records that get stolen" there are 500 companies in the same state with equally as great records. So I doubt very much anyone has to go to all the trouble you describe.

9. no, see, they NEED to steal them in order to elevate the terror.
simply taking them invisibly doesn't scare people enough.
they realize the chips will be a hard sell, UNLESS they scare the population to a certain level.

it isn't to get the information anymore than Iraq war was to liberate the people.

The PURPOSE is to get these chips in us, and then make us more CONTROLLABLE by restricting access

10. all the identity theft is doing to me is to make me use cash
get rid of my cards and not putting any money in the bank any longer...If they can't protect the info, I will not use them period....no more credit for me, oh no....and pretty soon if things work out, I'll get rid of my car too, no insurance, no license...to hell with them all....

11. In fact I won't have a bank account because of this kind of thing.........
.....I try to stay as far under the radar as I can. That doesn't mean I don't still speak out - I certainly do - I just don't leave a paper trail.

12. You just thought of this now........I know thats whats going on!!
I only know that this thought is correct..I have no way of proof other than to say...follow the money..

This is a concerted effort to spread fear into people to give up their power for security (false security, that is)...the more you give up the power the harder it is to get it back...its almost coming to the point of "are you willing to die for your rights and civil liberties?" cause thats what the coming years will bring!!

14. No. Don't think so.
One has to keep in mind that all this neocon/PNAC junk takes place not in a vacuum, but against the backdrop of general human greed and the criminality which pervades our modern society.

The data thefts are just that -- organized crime, or free agents selling to organized crime. It's all part of what is these days a perennial lifestyle of sustenance by property theft. While we may highlight the instances where this theft is by, or endorsed by, the government or government officials itself, but the truth is that this happens all the time at the hands of common criminals.

Should you be scared about your personal information? If you did like most Americans and casually distributed your financial records around to others, yes. If you didn't: yes. Because of the general lack of concern that we as a whole have demonstrated, criminal data acquisition had a growth environment to practice in and now is a threat even to those that were reasonably careful with their data.

Now as far as subcutaneous RFID chips, the above is not to say that there is no organized campaign to make that into a pernicious product. That happens with just about every product, save, mysteriously, for those that would actually benefit mankind. If the patent owners and people who stand to benefit can possibly figure out a way to suck on the government tit and become a huge industry overnight -- or at least create the illusion that they will for long enough to steal stock trader's money -- they most certainly will. It's pretty obvious that they are doing this with RFID, given the recent balloon floated to require them for all livestock.
