David Vitter wants regime change in New Orleans - Times-Picayune

You'd think Her Vitter would stay away from the issue of the fixed New Orleans election and the true motives of the Republican power elite in light of rising resistance to voter disenfranchisement. From the Times-Picayune website:

"U.S. Sen. David Vitter, R-La., believes New Orleans would be better off with a regime change, as he made clear to business leaders gathered Wednesday at the Greater Slidell Area Chamber of Commerce luncheon."

1. I agree with Vitter, we do need regime change

Although, I'm pretty sure that we won't be voting for the same person.

3. I don't disagree that there are problems and change is coming

I simply resent the fact that the government is rigging yet another election to the benefit of the Right Wing.

I have no political dog in this fight; no candidate per se.

This is, for me, all about voters' rights.

4. The biggest problem is that polling places couldn't be set up...

In the areas with large numbers of refugees. This was the Secretary of State's plan and the Federal Government said no. The vast amount of our population will not be able to return for quite some time and that's too long to wait for a mayoral election. It will be incredibly difficult to get things done if we don't. However, everybody who hasn't returned to this city needs to have the same access to voting as those who live here do, which is why we should have set up polling places in Houston, Atlanta, Baton Rouge, etc.

There's also little chance of an RW coup d'etat. Ron Forman is the only major candidate that is sort of in their camp but even he is a Democrat. I'm more worried about the GOP taking over statewide next year if our refugee population has not returned by then.
