a very simple question re: Al Gore and Iraq ...
Edited on Sun Mar-26-06 07:12 AM by welshTerrier2
i've been listening to Al Gore ... i heard his great speech to MoveON members about the war ... fiery and articulate ... just great ...

and i've heard numerous other speeches he's made recently including his great presentation on the environment ...

one simple question though - has Gore called for either immediate or near-term withdrawal from Iraq?

if he hasn't, it's about time he did!!

2. I don't think he's called for immediate with drawl but he has.........
......called for immediate review and more negotiations to eventually move toward with drawl. Let's face it Gore has been in a war situation he knows you don't just pull troops out immediately and leave their back sides exposed. One thing we know for a fact, Al Gore would have handled this whole thing using a totally different set of priorities.

4. one thing i know for sure
i will only be voting for an "Out now" candidate or someone who at least has fought for near-term withdrawal ...

this "back sides exposed" argument is not a valid excuse for remaining in Iraq ... troop safety should obviously be a critical factor and therefore Democrats should be calling for an immediate withdrawal as quickly as troop safety allows ... there's no reason this should take more than a month or two under any circumstances ...

this is not Vietnam where the US was pushed back into Saigon ... American troops could easily withdraw into remote areas and then leave the country ...

i like Al Gore but if he wont fight for a speedy end to the war, he won't get my support if he runs ... the anti-war movement is looking for leadership from Democrats; we'll get behind those who represent our views on this critical issue ...
