LTTE to both my Senators
would work?

The hysteria over illegal immigration in some quarters is just amazing. Yet the solution to the problem, if we chose to enforce it, is already in the books. The 1986 immigration law provides for stiff penalties for all companies that hire illegal aliens. Some of those penalties include the loss of property for those companies that continue hiring illegal aliens.

I have heard the many arguments claiming that Americans will not do certain jobs, which is just bull crap, why? There used to be a time when high school kids took summer jobs, working in the farms and at Micke Ds.... this is no longer the case, especially in agriculture. Why? Not because the kids will not work... but because the Agribusinesses would have to pay taxes, employee compensation et al, if they hired these kids. When they hire illegal Aliens... you don't want to pay, call INS. We both know this is practice by many businesses.

Now the current bill before the Senate also VIOLATES the US Constitution... after all a child born in the US is a US Citizen, by birth. (Not to mention under International law)... and violates less known areas of Geneva, which happens to be the law of the land since a previous Senate actually confirmed this into law.

Now lets be honest, could you run on lets enforce the 1986 Immigration Reform Law in the Central Valley? we both know the answer, why? Corporations ranging from Agribusiness to Walmart DEPEND on this cheap labor to drive wages down in the US, that is why it is called cheap labor.

So the solution to this problem is quite simple. Never mind that politically nobody can carry it out... why? I don't know if this is lack of political will, or the aforementioned being run out of town on the third rail, tarred and fathered to boot.

But if Republicans, who are stroking jingoism that will mean sooner or later that naturalized citizens better look for another country to go to. This is a natural extension of denying rights and services to children born in the US. It follows that we shall also deny them to naturalized citizens. The Corps NEED the cheap labor, and the Republicans are using this hysteria the same way they used it against Italians, Jews and Irish. So it is time to force Republicans to admit it, they want to destroy unions, destroy the middle class and cheap labor is their goal. The guest worker program proposed by the President is just one more took in this quest to destroy the ever so dwindling middle class in this country.

All I want to know is what is going to happen when that same middle class can no longer consume? That is the engine of the US Economy, so the haves will pick up the slack for all the new poor? Just wondering...

Moreover, what will happen to the society when all these new poor realize they have precious little to loose any longer? By the way, in case you wonder, I am one of those millions of naturalized citizens that right now are starting to wonder, did we make the right decision? Moreover, what happened to this country?

Sincerely

1. Shame on you
Trying to make these Senators look down the road more than two feet past their pandering, feel-good, corporation-worshipping jingoism. But they're made of tough stuff, these members of the self-annointed world's greatest deliberative body. You'll have to keep at it and remain reasonable. Good luck.
