If 500,000 people can get together and protest their immigration

rights, whether legal or illegal, how come a bunch of 97 work-days per year politicians cannot get together and do something to make this government of ours work again. We have arrogant and semi-literates, with over-inflated egos running the the institution, watching after their own interests while the rest of us go down the tubes. Why are there not 500,000 of us together in one spot yelling like banshees. Our cause is the protection of the whole country, not just the right to come over the border to work.
I thought politics was a noble calling, well, I have new thoughts about that.

1. If the anti-Bush people could really get organized, we could have

MILLIONS in the streets protesting. It would be difficult for the press and the rest of the world to ignore that. It would also send a message to our whipped Dems that we're tired of no action on their part.

Bush, his administration, and the Republicans would all pee their pants.

2. This immigration law makes people fellons. They should be angry.

I imagine it costs a fortune to defend yourself against a fellony. It's all for walking across an imaginary line. The punishment is not a measured response especially considering they come here to work. I'm no defender of illegal immigrants, but this proposed law they're protesting is dead wrong. Look for it to pass AFTER the election. (Hopefully not even then.)

Otherwise, I'm with you on the lack of outrage over the corruption and everything else in congress, the presidency and the wing nut courts. I suspect the propagandists got caught flat footed on this immigration thing. No time to swift boat this group.

3. If we really had a liberal media

it would show the 10's of thousands of us who HAVE protested this nazi fascist administration but they refuse to air it on TV or print it in the newspapers.No matter how many protests we have it makes no difference,but let a bunch of illegals protest and it gets covered from top to bottom. They want illegal immigration. It's good for keeping labor costs down.

They want war. It's good for making money.

They want you in a state of desperation and poverty. It makes you easier to manipulate, since you'd tolerate being treated like shit just so you can scrap together enough dollar bills to put food on the table each night.

They want you to fight your fellow man who is guilty of nothing more than jumping the border to find a better life. While you're fighting him, the capitalists benefit at both your expense, and the capitalists laugh at your collective stupidity for falling into the trap of fighting each other instead of fighting him.

7. The people protesting the proposed immigration legislation feel

personally threatened. Whereas we are all suffering from the bush** admin and their facist policies and illegal war, we only feel abstractly threatened so far. Not enough people have lost their jobs. Not enough people have lost their homes. There is no draft.

If things keep going the way they are now, then that situation will change and people will have plenty of time and will already be out on the street, so it won't be an 'inconvenience' to march. And if the draft comes, the young (and probably not-so-young) will be out in droves.

11. I think LA Spanish radio had a lot to do with the turnout

I heard that the protest was heavily promoted on the many Spanish radio stations throughout the LA area. Must be that the advertisers to those stations was not an issue.

There's nothing like that available with a target audience to promote an anti-war protest. The corporate advertisers wouldn't let it happen.
