The more the RW screams against Mexicans...
...and their "just put up a fence" mentality...the more the Dems will kick their asses at the polls.

It's a no-win for the Repukes.

1. After this last week I imagine there will be a drop in decibels.
The 'pubs could destroy themselves for decades with this.

Not that they really had it in the first place.

3. Most on the left and the right aren't screaming about Mexicans...
they're screaming about illegal immigrants.

5. You're right, issue that matters is ILLEGAL immigrants. Why is it that
so many people, even here, can't understand that?

6. I don't get it either.
I know that DU members care a great deal about the laws of the land, and believe if someone (say, a president) breaks the law he or she should be held accountable.

Why should those who illegally enter our nation everyday, and are then offered assistance and employment by law-breaking businesses, not be held to the same standard?

7. I think the laws for businesses should be vigorously...
enforced but the repukes will never do it; they're the cheap labor conservatives.

11. Laws have always been ignored when their effect is negetive.
Edited on Sun Mar-26-06 04:52 PM by Mountainman
Think about the blue laws etc. This about the civil disobedience of the civil rights movement the Jim Crow laws. We just don't obey a law because it is a law but because we want the outcome obeying the law brings.

8. We understand that.

I live in a part of Florida that a worker and his family cannot move to, unless you moved here 25 years ago.

As a result, there is a severe worker shortage. It is an area of tourism, at least for now, and workers are needed.

So, the big companies in development started bringing in Hondurans and Guatemalans to work for the minimum wage, 48 to 60 hours a week, straight time.

They cannot sign their names on the paycheck, and are non-English speaking, usually run by a boss who can speak some English. But, they are not stupid.

Severe Labour Shortage = Offers of Better Pay and Conditions. So, they took their false papers and moved on.

Now, the RW Multi million Corporations went Wa-ah, Wa-ah, wa-ah all the way to the INS. It really got to be a he said-she said type of confrontation. "They stole my illegal aliens--What are you doing with illegal aliens, yadda, yadda, yadda, blah blah blah."

The INS finally ruled that if the illegal aliens were not doing anything illegal, they'd leave them along.

Ol' Copperhead Tex's bill would restore the indentured servitude that the big companies have relied on. The big corporations would get the work visas and if a worker tried to leave them, then they could have the new employer and the worker prosecuted. It's really called slavery. And it must be okay, it's in the Old Testament.

10. Here's why. The current immigration laws do not work in this situation.
Edited on Sun Mar-26-06 04:47 PM by Mountainman
We are not going to deport 11 million illegal immigrants. Their kids are American citizens. They do work that many Americans want them to do. The magnet that brings them here is the desire for a better life for themselves and their families. That will never change.

To think that this country will enforce immigration laws that apply to undocumented aliens is to believe in the tooth fairy.

It just is not an option.

13. Make no mistake, the Republican push is mostly about racism.
I know enough Republicans personally to know what their true motivations are. They don't like this becoming less and less of a "white" country.

14. I cannot BELIEVE what I hear the right wingers
saying about immigration!! And this morning, on Stephanopoulus' show, Katrina van Huevel said that these repub congressmen are really just White Supremacists.

The repubs are going to lose the Latino vote for a generation - hubris, thy name is republican!
