If Democrats are going to use the "rubber stamp" meme, they |
have to act like an opposition party. Granted the Congressional Democrats have shown more spine lately, but they are going to have to get comfortable with taking aggressive stands against the Bush/GOP programs. We are not going to get very far saying don't vote Republican because they do what Bush tells them if key elements of our party are voting for the same thing and sniping at their colleagues when they take contrary positions and/or make tough but accurate charges. Victory in'06 and '08 depends on our ability to differentiate ourselves from the radical/fundamental sect that W's party has become not minimizing what separates us.

1. I've used the phrase "rubber stamp Congress" |
because I'm including the Dems (with a few notable exceptions). Absolutely, Democratic politicians need to lead the opposition to BushCo, not simply bloviate mealy-mouthed platitudes.
