Watch out MA! If any significant seats open (alaKennedy, Kerry) Card
will be the go to guy for State Repugs

Mittens(Romney) has actually weakened the Repug Party in MA

Card will be offered ANY office he wants to run for

I hope they tie the NSA wiretapping around Card's neck

1. I hope his role in Treasongate is exposed
because he is the link to George AWOL Bush.

The fish rots from the head down.*

* You can say the same for Toturegate.

2. It would not be that easy
The Governors race is not the Senate races and people look for different qualities for different offices. If it was that easy, we would have had Sen. Weld in '96.

4. Look what they did to Jane Swift - is there still time to do the same
to Kerry Healey?

Her poll #'s look awful next to the Dems running

Isn't their State Convention in April?

5. Andy Card is not Mitt Romney
Romney came in and campaigned as a moderate.

Card is not a moderate and has worked for Bush, who is hated in Massachusetts. (Ahm, approval rating of 26% here for That Friggin Idiot.) It is unlikely he would be able to get elected dog catcher with that affiliation.

Maybe he will move to Texas and run, although I don't wish that on our good friends from the great state of Texas. I hope he just retires.

8. Jane was rushed to the gunwales, picked up by her party, and tossed
overboard in the cruelest possible fashion, in order to make room for Romney. It was a really shitty thing to do--and he was a carpetbagger, on top of it all.

In order to do that to Healey, Mitt the Shitt would have to approve. And that would make him look like a total asshole. Screw one woman, that's political opportunism to find yourself a governor's mansion. Screw two, including one that was YOUR Lt. Gov, and has your endorsement, that has a misogynistic tone to it!

13. Also isn't her wealthy husband one of Mitt's backers
There was a mention that he paid costs for many people to go to the Memphis straw poll for Mitt.

15. Kerry's husband is loaded (Jane's was a bum--didn't work, sat on his
ass, didn't watch the kids--she caught flak for flying home in a State Police copter when one of 'em got sick--and lied to her about the number of times he was married...a real PRIZE!!).

But speaking of Kerry Healey's husband:

State shelved critique of tax credit
Healey husband gained from plan
By Frank Phillips, Globe Staff | September 16, 2005

Governor Mitt Romney's tax agency last year shelved a sharply critical report on an economic development program for ''blighted" properties that had awarded a $1 million tax credit to a wealthy company headed by Lieutenant Governor Kerry Healey's husband.

The commissioner of the Department of Revenue, Alan LeBovidge, filed the nine-page report with the Legislature on Oct. 1. But LeBovidge unexpectedly withdrew it five days later, saying in a letter that he had ''inadvertently presented" what he described as ''a draft document."

The Department of Revenue report, which was made available to the Globe, may present a political problem for Kerry Healey as she prepares for a possible campaign for governor in 2006. Since May, Healey's husband, Sean M. Healey, has netted $13 million by cashing in stock options in his firm, Affiliated Managers Group Inc. The money is widely expected to help finance his wife's potential campaign.

The Department of Revenue report confirmed many of the criticisms outlined last year by Inspector General Gregory Sullivan, who said the tax credits, including those to Affiliated Managers Group, had been ''handed out as favors" to companies and should be returned to the state.

The Department of Revenue report did not single out Healey's company, but questioned whether the credits should go to developers of individual parcels, such as the one developed by Healey's firm.
It said the tax credits are meant to encourage development of entire neighborhoods or regions that are designated as blighted or decadent.

Nothing in the department's report indicated that it was a draft, despite LeBovidge's assertion....

This needs to be BROUGHT BACK UP, IMO!!!

24. Healey's was the one I had read did this -
and yeah - with 2 woman in the post I was referring to - using a pronoun is not what any English teacher I ever had would have advised. Sorry.

7. Good assessment--and Weld actually had a charming personality
Card, at best, comes across as a "nice enough guy" but he doesn't have that quick wit and charisma that Weld enjoyed.

12. I think we are forgetting about how much Repugs LOVE to rally around
names

Put Kerry Healey and Card in a room with a bunch of Repugs - who is going to have the bigger crowd around them?

14. Card would be toast in a Senate race.
It would just be too easy to attach him to all of Bush's failed policies. He would never get in.

I think the other theory that Card is going out to help Romney is more plausible. Though even there, how much will he help. Card was the guy Bush sent out for cheeseburgers, isn't he?

16. No, the speculation is that he would try to shove Healey aside
in the GOV race. And she is having some troubles--her husband's 'iffy' financial practices (see my post above) AND her pick for LT GOV, a "law and order" ex-State Trooper designed to bring a bit of SPARK (to say nothing of testosterone for the sexist voters) to the ticket (because she looks like a putz, talks like a putz, and has NO PRESENCE) is SOFT ON DRUNKS! But ONLY drunks who are politically connected to him!!!!!

The juicy details: http://www.boston.com/news/local/massachusetts/articles/2006/03/27/healey_defends_running_mate_for_seeking_pardon_of_drunken_driver/

Healey defends running mate for seeking pardon of drunken driver
By Glen Johnson, AP Political Writer | March 27, 2006

BOSTON --Lt. Gov. Kerry Healey said Monday her designated Republican running mate, Reed Hillman, should be judged on his larger record fighting drunken driving, rather than a 2004 gubernatorial pardon he sought for a constituent repeatedly arrested for drunken driving.

Revelation of the letter, which came last week while Healey was vacationing in Florida, led to Democratic cries of hypocrisy. It also threatened to undercut the lieutenant governor's expected efforts to highlight her role in winning legislative approval last year for a stricter state drunken driving law.

Gov. Mitt Romney let the pardon request lapse without action....

Ahhhh, cronyism at its' most obvious!!!

And what's up with that "vacationing in Florida" shit??? Getting pointers from Jeb??? You'd think the idiot would be working the western half of the state at each and every opportunity, rather than sunning herself down south....unless she's counting on the fix being in.

17. I hope he runs, don't get me wrong
IT would be a blessing for the Dems that would just be wonderful. I can write the ads now. Ahm, you do know that Massachusetts hates the Pres, right? His approval rating in Mass is like 26%. Do you honestly think that the former Chief of Staff for the Prez Mass hates would ever get in?

18. I'd rather stick with Healey--she smells worse than a wet dog in a
pile of pigshit, these days. Andy should go home, and beg forgiveness of his minister wife.

if you loved George Bush, you'll flip over Andy Card.

Seriously, that would be a gift to the Dems.

20. Andy actually has more WEIGHT than Healey
The Dems would have to spend more money to beat him....really. The MA GOP are a bunch of mouth-breathing dunderheads, truly. Even the ones who have fallen away from the Monkey look at Card as a "decent man"--could it be the MA accent, the minister wife, the self-effacing, quiet manner?

Trust me, he would be tougher to beat, even with his Bush baggage. The GOP would spin it as his "quietly leaving in disgust" and that would earn him points.

21. This is my take on it also - I'll bet there are meetings going on here in
MA as I type this about choosing Card over Healey

Winning is what matters most to the Repugs;so what if it is another Jane Swift- like move- to TPTB in the Repug Party it is about WINNING

I also think the entire Repug Party is completely tone deaf if they think Andrew Card could run as a Bushbot to the 9th degree and MA will buy it - but if he polls better than Kerry Healey they'll probably run him

22. The problem there, though, is Mitt the Shitt has already backed Healey
If they shit on his candidate, it makes him look bad in the national race. The only way they could get away with it is to have Healey get sick, or her husband get sick, or manufacture some family crisis that causes her to withdraw.

If she is PUSHED out, just like they did to Acting Governor Swift, that would be problematic. Indeed, the voters of Massachusetts might actually start thinking that --GASP!!!!-- the GOP in MA has a PROBLEM with WOMEN in charge!!

23. Kerry Healey strikes me as a good soldier for the GOP and unlike
Jane Swift might actually get out without showing too many signs of bruised feelings or battered ego - KH might actually bow out with very little pressure

Another aspect to consider: Kerry Healey's husband was prepared to fork over BIG BUCKS; I wouldn't know Kerry Healey's husband if I fell over him but if he is anything like my husband he'd be thinking real hard todayabout whether or not his estimated 13 million dollars might not just be wasted if Card gets in

My husband would be thinking real hard if it was 1,300 bucks never mind 13 million
