Kerry spokesman: If hotel requests leaked in '04, "we'd have won...
in a landslide."

WP "Reliable Source, Lloyd Grove:
Meatloaf, Cookies, Presidential Suite

Days after snagging a copy of Vice President Cheney's hotel room requirements, The Smoking Gun yesterday published John Kerry's request list from his 2004 presidential campaign. The senator nixed tomato-based foods and celery ("JK hates celery") while requesting cold cereal, meatloaf, chicken, cookies, Poland Spring bottled water and a recumbent bike for workouts.

Kerry spokesman David Wade was unembarrassed: "Dick Cheney drinks Perrier and refuses to watch anything but Fox News. John Kerry hates Evian, eats meatloaf, and snacks on chocolate chip cookies. If these documents had been leaked during the campaign we'd have won in a landslide."

Posted 3/27: Smoking Gun has Kerry hotel needs: healthy fare, movies, "No Evian"

John Kerry Hates Celery!
During 2004 tour, Democrat and wife were more demanding than Dick

MARCH 27--In the spirit of bipartisanship, The Smoking Gun today extends our review of political tour riders across the aisle to examine Senator John Kerry, whose list of demands (and that of his wife) makes Sprite-lovin' Vice President Dick Cheney look like a travelin' rube. The riders for Kerry and Teresa Heinz Kerry were compiled during the last presidential campaign and were circulated by the Democratic candidate's advance team, a member of which provided them to TSG. The documents (one is actually labeled "Confidential") detail Kerry's food favorites and drop the bombshell that the Massachusetts senator "hates celery." His hotel rider notes that the "phone and the ability to order movies in suite should always be turned on and ready to go for JK's arrival," things that make him "very happy." The more detailed rider, of course, belongs to the politician's spouse, who likes celery and snoozing on a "Heavenly Bed" in a Starwood hotel that has "good air circulation." She also digs flax bread, stone crabs, peanut power butter, filet mignon with veggies, and bottled water apparently run through a "reverse osmosis filter." Why are we not surprised?...

1. Who cares about either? Being on the road is not easy
Frankly, the requests of both Kerry and Cheney seem modest to me. I am perturbed that Kerry doesn't like celery, though. What's wrong with celery?

6. But what do you use for crunch in potato salad?
Please don't say pickles, or I will have to put you on my ignore list.

7. Oh, I use celery, and pickle too, and chopped onion.
I'm okay with celery in small doses. It's celery sticks I'm particulary biased against.

Please don't ignore me. I would never recover.

10. Nice save with the onion
I like pickles - just not IN things. They stand alone!

4. Its crunchy and stringy
I love it and grow (organic) celery. But I have relatives who hate the stuff. That's why Gawd invented broccoli, I guess.
