What are the best ways to help Russ Spinegold today?
Hi All,

I feel sorta stuck today.

What would be the most effective things to lend support to Russ and his Censure Adventure?

TeeVeeland is apparently still trying to make it look like Russ is a fringe crank.
Obviously not true, thats why I want to add my voice (and anyone else I can muster) to show my support.

There seem to be anumber of things that *could* be done but what woulld be the best stuff to do before the hearings?
Calls? Faxes? To whom?

Thanks!

eek

1. imo, work locally toward 2006
Let the chips fall where they may. Russ can do his thing while working toward victory in 2006. We should all do our own thing as well.

2. Demand Cspan cover the committee hearings tomorrow - THAT is the reason
Russ moved censure into committee, to further investigation of NSA spying. He and the many senators who support further investigation need the public to be more aware of what crimes were actually committed by BushInc.

The media has been successfully changing the debate to be about the few Dems who disagree with censure, while ignoring the many key senators who support FURTHER INVESTIGATION OF NSA SPYING, setting up Feingold's hearings on Friday.

3. Call the Spineless Dem Senators!!
Demand they support Russ and censure!! Election is coming and they're going to pay for their cowardice at the polls!! Time to show that they actually support the Democratic voters and the American people!

6. Feingold wants censure investigated - many Dem senators are supporting him
on this and that is what set up the hearings being held on Friday.

The MEDIA is playing the story as if no one is supporting him, but if you LISTEN to what was actually said, many key senators supported the NEED to hear evidence and further investigation into NSA spying. THAT is exactly what Feingold needed and how he got his Friday hearings.

7. Call 'em anyway! Don't let them become rubber-stamp hearings.
You know damn well that's what crazy Arlen wants them to be.

8. You think Kennedy, Durbin and Jeffords want to rubberstamp NSA spying?
I heartily disagree with that - They have already demanded more NSA documents for these hearings in support of furthering the investigation the day censure moved into committee. Just because media is NOT reporting these facts doesn't mean we should act ignorantly when we KNOW it happened.

Why buy into the mediaspin against them?

9. You don't have to buy into media spin to give them a kick in the ass.
I agree with you wholeheartedly, but demanding that our Senators hear what we want - enthusiastically - is NEVER a bad thing.

10. In that case, focus on the UNdependable ones.

My bug is that so many Dem senators who are supporting Feingold's hearings and called for investigation to GET these hearings are getting smeared because of the mediaspin on the story.

17. just to clear up this dilemma, I'll let Russ Feingold tell how we can help
Here I how Russ want's us to help

Dear Patrick,

I'm proud to congratulate Bill Winter as being the netroots' choice for our second Pick a Progressive Patriot event. Bill received thousands of votes from members of the Progressive Patriots Fund community, and we'll be sending him a contribution of $5,000 today to help his efforts.

Bill Winter, a Navy and Marine Corps veteran who views public service as a patriotic calling, is running against Tom Tancredo in the Colorado 6th District. To learn more about Bill, please visit his website at http://www.winterforcongress.com/ and consider joining me in making a contribution to his campaign.

In addition to supporting Bill Winter, I'm happy to announce that the Progressive Patriots Fund will be sending smaller contributions to all of the other candidates who were featured in this latest event. All are worthy of our support, and I hope they will all join me in Congress in 2006.

The upcoming November elections are critical in our efforts to bring accountability to this President. I am determined to help elect more Democrats across the country and I want to thank all of you who have contributed to this effort and have taken the time to share with me your recommendations for which candidates are deserving of our collective support.

I look forward to our next "Pick a Progressive Patriot" event, to be held later this year. Please keep sending in those suggestions; everyone we've supported so far has been recommended through our candidate suggestion form, and this will continue to be the way the Progressive Patriots Fund chooses who to feature in our Pick a Progressive Patriot events.

Thank you for your support in the past weeks, and look forward to more events like "Pick a Progressive Patriot" in the future!

Sincerely,

Russ Feingold
United States Senator
Honorary Chair, Progressive Patriots Fund
