it is a marathon, not a sprint. Goddess40 is to be commended for putting herself out there and running for office. She is not only talking the talk, but walking the walk.... I applaud her courage and dedication and thank her for her commitment to public service.
Win or lose, she is spreading a message. She is also increasing her name recognition. Should she not receive the most votes, she will at the very least have started to build on a base for future campaigns. Previous posters are right - the local papers usually go with the "established" candidates. But, let her know, the newspaper doesn't matter right now, her opponent doesn't matter right now.
This is her endeavor to run her campaign, to reach out to voters and make connections, to include her voice in the debate and conversation and ask the voters to choose her on election day. I hope she can live in the moment and find enjoyment in the experience even tho powers that be might be putting hurdles in her way. She can absolutely win without the newspaper endorsement and even against the strongest candidate on City Council, but even if she doesn't receive the most votes, she will still have won with the knowledge that she has the courage, conviction and fortitude to run this race - which I'm sure won't be her last.
Best of luck to her and all the best thoughts.
