Lindsey Graham is a bigger prick than I even thought.
His scurrilous attacks on John Dean in the censure hearings were unconscionable. Everyone should watch the clips of that -- probably available on c-span.

Sens. Specter and Hatch were outrageous in their treatment of Dean, but Graham was a low-bellied lying snake.

I suppose they are all still mad that Dean stopped Nixon in his suborning of the Constitution?

1. Yep. It was a Swiftboat kind of strategy by the Rethugs.
The whole line-up of these guys just reinforces the idea that the GOP is out of ideas and relying almost wholly on smear tactics, gay marriage fearmongering, and fake security alerts of the sort Tom Ridge did so ever well.

A political party glued together with warmongers, liars, and religious fanatics.

Yuck City.

10. That's why I believe Feingold "won" the hearing. The Republicans
had to show their slimy colors. Thousands of Americans saw it with their own eyes. They were losers.
How about Sessions? Is he amazing or what? (sarcasm)

24. Sessions. You are absolutely right. Jeff Sessions is the
electoral quivalent of styofoam. Completely without substance.

25. On the same day he spewed his silly junk at the committee
he talked literally for hours on the floor of the Senate. I don't even know the topic because the sound was off. What could that idiot possibly have to say that was worth tying up the business of the Senate for hours? He is the busiest idiot in the Senate.

4. He just kept on blabbing
and wouldn't allow Dean to answer any questions. Carried on about Nixon the whole time I watched. Nixon wasn't the one in question, Dubya was but his name never came up.

5. He didn't even know what Watergate was.
He thought Dean had been in prison, Nixon had ordered the break in, and had been impeached. Unbelievable.

6. Yea, Lindsey tried to slam Dean, but it didn't work!
Even many in the media said he showed you should never get into a verbal battle with someone when you don't know the facts yourself.

Folks, these were two lawyers throwing daggers at each other, and the best man won.

I wouldn't worry too much about Dean. He's perfectly capable of handling his opponents on his own!

hearings, on a cable Watergate documentary, commenting in awed tones that whenever John Dean was questioned about prior statements by anyone involved, however lengthy the statement, he could cite the whole statement, word for word, without reference to any notes.

27. Dean really is a national hero!
What he did during the Watergate hearings was not only the right thing to do, but it was also very dangerous to his person. Threats were flying around like confetti during that time!!

7. Dean demonstrated to all what an Ignorant Ass Graham is..
Edited on Sat Apr-01-06 02:26 PM by radio4progressives
Graham thought he was going to get away with grandstanding on comparing "apples and oranges" to what bush is doing is somehow like the watergate burlary -

Dean did manage to make the point that Nixon's impeachment hearings had nothing to with the watergate hotel break in. Nixon wasn't even aware of that break in - he was busted for Daniel Ellsberg's psychatrists office break in based on so called National Security justifications.

Precisely what this is all about. Graham didn't get it at first, he had to be slapped down a few times before he finally backed off.

he can hold his own in any dogfight. He was weaned in the big dog pack and pulled down their "big dog". Dean is another American Hero :patriot:

us when he was one of the "House Handlers" for the Clinton impeachment.
That was when most folk's gaydar went off - he was just such a "little bitch".

Just for the record - Hatch and Sessions strike me in the same way. Friends who used to work on the Hill have speculated for years about the Orrinator.

23. Graham is righteous about a Republican scandal...
... only if it's 30+ years in the past. Whatever happened during Watergate was bad; if it happened under Bush, it's fine. Around 2040, we'll hear him say how bad FISAgate was.

Oh, and since he kept harping to John Dean about how terrible the Nixon admin was for breaking in and stealing the Democrats' files, where was he when this scandalito came and was conveniently forgotten:

12. Specter
should be seperated from sessions and hatch. Specter is as good as you can expect from the repubs. I think he may be their partys Lieberman. Of course they are snakes, sessions is still figuring out ways to win the civil war. It's up to the dems. to demonstrate better ideals and ideas, Which they seem to be doing. so let this thing play out, keep up the work, and maybe we will prevail.

It was "invented" by Specter. Probably the biggest lie in American history until Bush took the WH.

His self-hating alignment with the Repug Party is one of the main things I sratch my head with about this guy...is he a member of the Log Cabin Repugs? Does he date Drudge? Work out with Jeff Gannon? Mingle with Mehlman?

What an idiot...

Does he think that people don't remember Watergate? Does he think that no one AT ALL watches CSpan?Does he think that the gazillion boomers that DO remember Watergate are too enervated to do anything? Is he daring people to do something?

What kind of thought processes can be at work in that head?

but I guess that's a requirement among neocon stooges these days.
