Is it or was it news?
Living in Australia it is hard to know what is current news in the US. At the moment I am learning about Bush's pre Iraq War plan (that he confided in Blair about) to send an unmanned plane painted in UN colors to fly over Iraq. He was hoping that with this scenario, that the Iraqis would shoot it down, hence give him the perfect excuse to invade. Is this common knowledge there?

1. Yes,
those of us who are paying attention and spend time on the internet know it. The corporate media conglomerate hasn't spent any time on it.

2. Jon Stewart and Bill Maher have mentioned the US plane
painted as a UN plane to provoke a war (Bush plan.)

3. That's a new one on me.
But with the fools in charge here, anything is possible.

7. Sometimes I think we are suffering from "outrage fatigue"

Just one thing after another.

That is actually a psyops tactic.

Numb the populace with ever-increasing outrageous acts and statements.

Yes the plane was news. The problem is that I think only the people that allready dislike this administration are the ones that cared about it.

:hi:

6. Welcome to DU, Gail
Living in the US with our corporate-owned Mainstream Media, it is hard to know what is going on in the US, too.

That silly UN plain story has been reported, but it's hard to know how widespread it is. The New York Times said it was uncertain as to whether the idea was actually one that somebody had put on the table or "represented Bush's extemporaneous thinking." The idea was so stupid it was almost certainly the latter.

8. small correction
The plane * wanted to use, the U-2, is not an unmanned plane. It's the same plane Gary Francis Powers was flying when the Soviets shot him down.
