1. Oh but he did say there was a connection
I will research this because the transcripts could not have been edited on all the news outlets..Here is what happen .....The Sunday that Cheney was on MTP the original transcripts was up on their web site that evening..About an hour later it was edited..I remember there was a discussion about the editing here on DU.

11. The debate was about what Bush and Cheney had said on Russert's show
The scope was limited to that. The exchange ensued when Russert read Franken quotes that accused him (Russert) of by naively failing to challenge false assertions that were made by Bush and Cheney on Russert's show.

Russert said the assertions had not been made on his show. He was right about that as far as Bush was concerned but wrong in Cheney's case.

I caught a little of the show
Tim seemed determined to blame EVERYTHING on either the Democrats or the fact that the Democrats believed Bush's lies. Then he had the nerve to ask what Al thought the Democrats had to do overcome their disadvantage in 2006!

3. My favorite moment in the show ....
was when Al Franken stated that Bush lied when he said that Congress had seen the same intelligence on Iraq that he had. Russert then agreed saying that the PDB is completely different from the intelligence given to Congress. And Franken said, "So say it, 'Bush lied.' Say it, Tim. Say 'Bush lied.'" (or words to that effect). And the sheepishly grinning Russert said, "I'll leave it to your judgment."

That was priceless.

10. That was my favorite part too.
It was a great show. I also liked when Franken would say something funny (which was pretty often) and you could hear the camera crew laughing.

I thought it was a good natured exchange, with both Franken and Russert enjoying themselves.

4. Gotta read this
I googled "Did Dick Cheney say there was connection with al qaeda and Iraq" and there it is ..Click the search link that starts out Sept 14 and go down about three paragraphs..I tried posting a link but it just wont work..Russert asks the Question "But is there a connection?"

7. you should send this to Al Franken
What struck me about the show was the way Russert kept protecting the republicans. He will be one of the those of whom history will not look kindly. He is obviously so biased he allows the republicans to spew their lies with no question. He fiercely protected the administration when Franken suggested they lied.

9. It was on Saturday's Tim Russert Show.
Russert has a show (one-on-one) on CNBC on Saturday....similar to Charlie Rose Show. He usually has just one guest to interview for the whole hour.

I saw the Franken interview...and to me Russert was uncharacteristically red-faced and angry about what Franken said about him (Russert) in his book. Russert looked so flustered to hear Franken defend himself, and at the same time, the dutiful Russert kept emphasizing Roves' talking points....."but...but...but... the Democrats don't have a plan".

Franken kept saying "Bush is a liar". ...Bush LIED to us!" That just angered Russert even more. Republicans just can't handle the truth, and they HATE that word "liar"...it goes against their family values (???)

Call Bush "the liar" that he is....whenever you can. Republicans come unglued! ("...but...but...but the Democrats don't have a plan," they whine.)
