NYTimes; No one wants the FEMA job.
Edited on Sun Apr-02-06 10:08 AM by killerbush
Another embarrassment for the Bush administration has cropped up. Bush was looking for someone to replace Michael Brown as head of FEMA, but after a long search, it seems that nobody wants the job.

Ellis Stanley put it best. "No one wants to be fire cheif after you burn down the city", and that's exactly what we would have here. The feds so screwed up hurricane Katrina, and other things that the American people have very little confidence in the organization.

The current director, R. David Paulison will probably become the head of FEMA in the next few days or so. Oh please, get me back to the days of the Clinton administration, where things went right most of the time, so I can get the nightmare of this incompetent administration out of my mind.

2. Not joking here... I would appoint Joe Lieberman.
I'm not just suggesting this on a purely selfish note to get his pro-Bush vote out of the U.S. Senate.

For Senator Lieberman, it is the perfect opportunity for him to reconnect with the long-ago commitment he made to the civil rights movement by working to assist U.S. citizens, many of whom are African-Americans, who were displaced by Katrina. He was among the first folks to the South to help in that struggle.

Lieberman is sincere in matters of civil assistance and has the clout to coordinate disparate factions of federal rescue teams.

4. Lieberman won't accept it
He would be a good choice, but I don't think he would be interested in a position, that has been screwed up since Bush took office.

10. I agree that he wouldn't accept the post. But it would be a true
opportunity to put a responsible person in charge of an agency in great need of rescue.

6. That's a good idea.
We could give it to Vicente Fox. He and Bush are buddies, and Mr. Fox might be looking for a job in the future.:sarcasm:

12. Hi to ya, babylonsister. Always nice to bump into you on these
boards.

Your post prompted the realization that maybe the Bush White House failed to advertise the job properly.

They should have specifically used your phrase:

"Wanted: Ass-kissing sycophants to fill train-wreck of an agency..."

That would probably have done the trick.

More power to ya,

OC

13. That must be it, Old Crusoe! They need to
'spin' the way they market the job!
Good to see you, too! :hi:
