Good news in Iraq, Jill Carroll's out. Why are Repubs bashing her??
For months now, the GOP has complained that the media doesn't, or won't report any good news coming out of Iraq. They keep harping on and on, about all the good being done, that nobody reports on. Well, Jill Carroll, after 82 days in captivity, is coming home, and yet, the wacko wingers are up in arms over the fact that Carroll isn't bowing down, and giving proper credit to houseboy Bush.

I don't understand it. A piece of good news out of Iraq, and Republicans leading the charge in trashing this lady of unquestionable strength and courage. But that's the GOP for you.

2. Because it would have made better propaganda if they had killed her
Releasing hostages is so un-terrorist like. If she had died, they could have filled cable news for two weeks with stories about how inhuman these Iraqis are. Even Rita Cosby would have been happy.

5. Not just Republicans. Some people here were questioning her, too
criticizing her Islamic dress, etc., hinting that she was somehow guilty of something. Very disappointing to find this kind of right-wing stuff at DU.

6. I haven't seen that, but I have
seen posters on DU acting as apologists for her kidnappers and expressing disbelief at her statement that the earlier videos in which she praised the insurgents were coerced, and that she actually condemns them.

9. You should always just "consider the source"
Jill is a reporter, and a good one. I know her family is overjoyed that she is a LIVE reporter, not a dead one. They probably had to mortgage the house to get her out of there.

8. Because she didn't come back and scream for bloody revenge.
That was the story they wanted to tell if she got released. That now we need to avenge those who are kidnapped. And what's "worse", she didn't mention anything about torture. So now it looks like the United States tortures people more than the terrorists do.

10. Peremptory Swift-boating of someone who might just have a tale to tell
which will cause further sinking of the Neocon Flag Ship Issue

The 'bad guys' didn't kill her. How can we keeping our blind rage if the 'bad guys' look human? Remember how the propaganda ministers tried to keep the truth about Jessica Lynch's decent treatment and sham 'rescue' from surfacing? SSDD

12. Because she a member of the 'librul media'
She made a propaganda tape (under duress) and allowed herself to be photographed wearing a hijab. That makes her a Muslim and as any right wing moron "knows", all Muslims are terrorists.

13. Because she didn't sacrifice herself
for their stupid cause. If she had died rather than make the video then they could have used her as an example of true sacrifice for their cause.

She didn't. She did what every last one of them would have done - said what was necessary to stay alive.

They do not have a martyr for their cause and feel cheated.

but they snickered over the release of the 'three weany peace workers'. That one was murdered didn't bother them a bit. I don't think the obnoxious republican posters online represent all republicans - they just can't. Vindictive, nasty people feed off each other and maybe there's some nasty dynamic they've got workin'...

Edit for spelling
