They said the most influential, not the most liked.

Shoot, he influenced me to become active in the party, he influenced North Korea and Iran to prepare for a pre-emptive strike, he influenced thousands (if not more) to pick up arms and attack US soldiers. You get the picture.

The man is an ass, but he IS influential.
