If a guy went on a news show and by twist of fate was shown with bulging erection, that would be one thing.

Now if a guy went on a news show with a cucumber stuffed down his pants, and then backed up and stood sideways to make sure that everyone could see the bulge -- then proceeded to have photographs of him at various events that showed off that bulge, sometimes in poses/wardrobe that make it painfully obvious that he's trying real hard to do so, are you really going to tell me people wouldn't make fun of that?

I'd say I'm trying to provide some perspective here, but I think we've had just about all the "perspective" anyone could hope for in this case.

If, and I have to stress IF, men were pressured by society to change their outward physical characteristics in order to be found attractive, then maybe MAYBE this would happen, and maybe MAYBE there would be people out there who would mock it instead of mocking his actual political views.

But the truth is, we live in a society that demands that women be "sexy" and if, god forbid, a woman is sexy AND smart or politically involved, she is constantly questioned.

Attractiveness works to the advantage of male politicians, not to their detriment. They are not considered less because they have a nice ass, they are considered handsome. If they are not so attractive, it also doesn't matter.

Katherine Harris has big breasts--who the fuck cares? Who cares if they are real or fake? If they are real, then they are her breasts and none of my concern. If they aren't, then she's just one of the many, many thousands of American women who took the "You aren't good enough the way you are" mantra of womanhood to heart, and that is unfortunate, but also none of my damn business.
