Top Aide to Tom DeLay Pleads Guilty
A former top aide to Republican Representative Tom DeLay of Texas has pleaded guilty to charges stemming from the Jack Abramoff lobbying probe.

Tony Rudy pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy Friday in the influence-peddling investigation as part of a deal with Justice Department prosecutors.

The deal will send DeLay`s former deputy chief of staff to prison for up to two-and-a-half years for providing "complete and truthful information" in the Justice Department investigation.

Rudy is the second ex-member of the former House Majority Leader`s staff to plead guilty in the probe.

Abramoff has admitted to giving members of Congress Super Bowl tickets and other gifts for favorable actions for his clients. He has pleaded guilty to conspiracy and fraud charges and federal investigators are examining his links to a number of politicians, including Delay.

Abramoff was slapped with a nearly six-year prison sentence earlier this week in a separate fraud case in Florida.
