There can be no doubt: McCain's blatant desire for the White House has caused him to abandon the Straight Talk Express and hop on board the Bullshit Express. Talk about "pimping your ride."

I find it deeply ironic that, at a time when voters are desperately longing for a political leader with authenticity, a man who defined the authenticity brand has now decided to screw with the formula.

The New McCain is the political equivalent of New Coke -- and will meet with the same disastrous results.

It's worse than a Faustian bargain. At least Faust got what he desired in exchange for his soul. McCain, in giving up the core of who he is -- as a man and as a leader -- may actually be destroying his chances of getting what he so desires.

The saddest thing is not how McCain has betrayed us -- it's how he has betrayed himself.

1. I'm sick of the McCain lovefest

Everybody views him kind of like Colin Powell and assume that at some point they had integrity which they have now betrayed or basically they are good men who went astray. Bullshit and more bullshit. Neither of those two scumbags were ever anything but opportunists and toadies who will do whatever it takes to further the right wing agenda. There was never any "straight talk" from either of those criminals. McCain is not giving up his core - it is the same as it ever was - grabbing power by any means.

I am not a democrat. I am not a republican. I do hold integrity and honesty to be very high in my world and if you cannot stand on those two things, I don’t respect the person. I watched you campaign for bush in 2004 and I was disappointed in you. I have watched you since. Oh the hug you have with bush while he was on campaign 2004, oh so sad. But….. to allow falwell to say you may be on the road to redemption after what that “Christian” man did to you and your family, your daughter. No father could take that. Except it seems, you. How you have fallen mr mccain. You sold out your daughter, and your wife, but especially your daughter. I could not do that to either of my sons, I would not do that to either of my sons. Nothing would be important enough for me to embrace a man that purposely and in the name of lord went after my child. Shame shame mccain. I am disappointed. 5. Both mccain and Feingold wer on the talkshows last sunday

I was switching between the two. As comparisons go, Feingold had the integrity, force of beliefs, and a charimatic delivery of his message. mccain spoke like he was in a daze, and had to defend his current statements with his statements from a few years ago. It was prety pathetic.

Feingold vs mccain in 2008 would be an easy call (the debates would look like Kenedy vs Nixon).
