U.S. Rep. Nancy Johnson’s campaign for re-election is off to a controversial start after a local television station refused to air a commercial produced a liberal group that is critical of Johson’s voting record on energy.
MoveOn.org Political Action unveiled a commercial claiming Johnson got "caught red-handed" accepting $307,234 from energy companies and then voted against bills that would have penalized those companies for price gouging.
Jennifer Lindenauer, communications director for MoveOn.org., wanted to know why Channel 30 was the only channel in the state to refuse to run MoveOn.org’s anti-Johnson commercial.
Lindenauer suggested NBC’s refusal had something to do with "the well-known right-wing leanings of their parent company, GE."
